Great spot for cross country travel. Hot breakfast, pool for kids, new modern furniture and felt very clean, (more renovations coming to open up the gym room it seemed). Many things (maybe everything) in our room seemed like they were remodeled within a month or so. Modern lighting in the rooms that made it feel more polished and comfortable: comfortable lighting options where you could have it pretty dark for someone sleeping while lighter in other parts of the room (my kids counted 13 different light switches because of built ins).
Comfortable beds and pillows. Modern hall tree convenient for coats/luggage/kids backpacks. Also easy to control the temperature in the room.
We liked it so much going in one direction cross country that we decided to stay in the same one on the way back.
Also very convenient that you can walk over to the Walmart supercenter. After long driving the walk is perfect to get some exercise and makes the hotel stay less of a nuisance since you can grab say hot microwaveable food, quick utensils, or extra underwear for kids because...kids! Or pool shoes in the middle of winter because you don't want to walk the halls barefoot or in winter boots :).

No luggage carts on Christmas Night and no idea how to solve the issue.

Remodeling as advertised. But at $142 in a small town, no exercise room, no water pressure, pass on by and go to Effingham or the STL suburbs. Disappointed.

I've stayed at hundreds of IHG properties, and this is by far the worst I've ever experienced. It was so bad that I left
My room was dirty, with dirt on the bedspread, and dead bugs in different places throughout the room. One of the curtains also had a large, fist-sized hole in it.
I was only given one towel - not just one bath towel, but one towel total. No bath mat. No hand towel. No wash cloth. ONE towel.
The worst part, though, was that the employee who checked me in made inappropriate comments about her body to me.
Given the dirty condition of the room, and how uncomfortable she made me feel, I left. The owner offered me a full refund, and then reneged on that too, saying I had to reach out to IHG corporate if I wanted the rest of my points back.
I am still fighting for the full refund.
Do not stay here.
