I enjoyed how handy the location was, less than a mile away made everything easy when I stayed here while visiting the University of Illinois. The rooms feel modern and cozy, but the building has a lot of personality. Instead of staying at a generic chain hotel, it's nice to stay somewhere that feels like it's part of the town.
I was in town for a business meeting, mid week, and stayed here.
Parking seemed to be sufficient but wasn't very busy. Check in was a breeze and took a minute to find the elevator.
Gym was sufficient, but kind of warm so getting your sweat on is easy!
Hotel room was good, two smaller windows but just overlooked a roof of the indoor mall. Nothing special there.
I would say that the walls seemed thin because I could hear the guy in the room next to me while he was on the phone, and could hear the elevator dinging. If you're a light sleeper make sure you ask for a quiet corner room.
Hotel seems to have a lot of history, would love to see some stories of the building and renovation in the lobby!!!
Would stay here again, pretty easy to get around town from here.

I did a staycation here. I only live about 20 minutes away. Sometimes you gotta take a break from the norm and enjoy a new setting, even if only for 24 hours. I had a basic room that served its purpose.
.
The couch was on the same wall as the TV. Although I had no guest with me, it would've been hard for them to watch TV. They'd have to sit in the chair at the desk or on the bed with me. 🤭
.
The shower was a challenge! Only one door slides open and it's on the opposite side of the shower faucet. When you turn the water on, the shower head immediately comes on! There is no lever to pull up to activate the shower head. I got the back of my my shirt soaked because of that. You literally have to be IN the shower to adjust your water temp. You have to lean up against the wall and hope you get your water temperature right the first time or you're going to get a quick burst of cold, warm, or hot water on you.🚿
.
My bed was comfy. I slept great that evening as I put the air on at 68°. Perimenopause is no fun but ya gotta do what ya gotta do to be comfortable. The 4th floor was very quiet too. 👍🏾
.
I treated myself to breakfast the next morning. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the Writer's Room. My meal was Grandma Royer's Morning Feast. It was wonderful! My waitress was wonderful as well. Sadly, there are no mimosas or bloody mary's to offer as a breakfast drink. So keep that in mind when ordering breakfast. I settled for the balck coffee. 🍽
.
Some how I was charged for a burger, a cocktail and the food and beverage taxes associated to those items, to my room. I had not ordered any of that the Saturday night I was there. I called the next morning to explain it. Within an hour I received a phone call back saying the charges have been credited back onto my card and they apologized for the error. It's ok I told her. And thanked her for making it right. The wonderful CSR thanked me for not being rude about the situation. I actually said the word rude. LOL! She didn't want to say it. So be kind when there's an issue. It'll be resolved to your satisfaction within a timely manner. 🤗
.
So in conclusion, Hotel Royer was a fun getaway. I enjoyed it after experiencing the somewhat odd things listed above. If you can get over all of those as I did, you'll enjoy your stay!

Hotel Royer is a great addition to the CU area Hilton brand.
My wife and I schedule occasional local date nights and have been unimpressed with the Hilton options.
The remodel of Hotel Royer is beautiful. The bar has great drinks, a cool vibe and a comfortable atmosphere.
The staff is friendly and accommodating. We will certainly be back, and the lobby bar will be a stop in when the opportunity presents itself.

Apon arrival, we were greated by a wonder young man who was friendly and gave us some complimentary waters. I reserved a King bed room with a couch and walk in shower. I did get a King bed. I did not get the side room with couch or walk in shower. When I went down to get the mistake corrected, the nice young man called a couple people and was told to give me free entree passes from their restaurant and free drink cards. When he went to get the passes he couldn't find any free drink passes so bless his heart he gave us 5 free entrees and let us grab some snacks from the snack bar if we want.
