  Room was clean, but I waited for 10+ minutes for my water to heat up in the shower, it never did and I had to end up taking a cold, COLD shower after a long day of work. Not impressed at all.

  Checked out early after 1 night due to killing 3 roaches in our room. Staff when we arrived were rude when we asked about pool and breakfast hours. Our room was fairly clean tho not great. The roaches was the bigger issue.

  I have come to really enjoy Holiday Inn properties; I seem to have better experiences there than with other hotel chains as of late. This location was no exception. I felt it was conveniently located, though I wish there were a light to make it a little easier to take the left onto Lake Cook Rd. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating; I had misplaced my wallet and was panicked that I would not be able to check in. I was situated in a room right at the top of the stairs from the lobby, which felt odd at first but turned out to be very convenient. I WILL say that I heard the banging noises as well, but I was able to figure out why: My room was directly above the sliding doors to the lobby. They made a good deal of noise when being walked through. I think that was what I was hearing, though I cannot speak for other guests. I could see this being an issue for those who are very sensitive to noise, but it wasn't for me. The TV in the room is small and kind of rinky dink; the TV guide only tells you stations, not what is playing. I wish that there were an option to access streaming services, as some other hotels offer. The Wi-fi was great for my purposes (graduate work; not a lot of juice required for that). The rooms are definitely a little dated, but they were extremely clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the breakfast bar that was included! Lots of options from cereal to baked goods, hot bar items like eggs, sausage, and potatoes, and pancakes made by a strange little machine. The coffee bar has a lot more options than most free breakfast bars do in other hotels. The only complaint I have, which is minor and difficult to fix due to the nature of it, is that the dining room was very cold! Bring a sweater and layers if it is cold outside. The lobby door opening and closing right next to the dining room makes the temperature regulation less than ideal. Again, I sat further into the dining room and layered up, so while it wasn't ideal, it worked out fine for me. Overall, this was a very comfortable stay and I wish that I had stayed there this weekend. The hotel I am in is just a little closer to where I am visiting, but I would take the extra 3-4 minutes of drive time to stay here again.
