There were splatters on the walls, grime on the window sills, dust everywhere, and clear evidence that housekeeping doesn’t bother cleaning anything “out of sight.” The tops of the fridge were caked with dirt, there were stains and spills on the walls and floor that hadn’t even been wiped up, and one of the rooms didn’t even have a remote. The worst part, though, was the cleaning staff. The woman, part of what seemed to be a family-run crew, would sit in the theater room during games and scream profanities at the TV for hours. The walls are paper thin, so every word carried straight into our rooms. It wasn’t just loud, it was very vulgar. We’re talking full-on screaming slurs and obscenities for hours on end. When we extended our stay, she actually got angry with us. She asked us to switch rooms because she was “done cleaning” the one we were in, and when we told her to give us a moment since we’d just woken up, she got visibly irritated. It was honestly one of the most uncomfortable and unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had at a hotel. The lack of cleanliness was bad enough, but the constant yelling and vulgar behavior from staff made it unbearable.
