I’m a Marriot guy, but when I come into this area for Biz, I book my stays at this Holiday Inn. The staff and property are excellent. My most recent visit, Abi at the front desk greeted and treated me like she had known me and my wife for 20
Years, while conducting herself super professionally…..and she had just met us.
Silvino the food / bev manger was behind the bar and he treats you like you are at his home. Wonderful person!
The property has been recently updated and it’s expansive , yet cozy. The rooms are in great shape and staff def has pride in their work because the room was clean and neat.
Most of all, the beds are COMFY!!!!
Great value for the money!!
You will not be disappointed. I go 15 min out of my way to stay here. You should too!!

I booked 3 rooms, but the hotel charged me for 6 rooms and refused to correct the mistake. We only occupied 3 rooms, checked in as a group of 3. Despite this, the staff repeatedly hid behind their “prepaid” policy instead of addressing an obvious billing error.
I tried speaking with multiple employees and managers, but no one was willing to acknowledge or fix the overcharge. I’ve stayed at many hotels and have never experienced a situation where a property refuses to correct charges for rooms that were never used or authorized.
If you care about accurate billing or respectful treatment as a guest, I would avoid this hotel. I’m now having to dispute the charge with my credit card company because the hotel won’t take responsibility for their mistake.

The McHenry County Detachment of the Marine Corps League #1009 had a Marine Corps Ball in celebration of 250 years of service to our nation. This Ball was incredibly difficult to set up with so many moving parts, so many variables to manage. Our primary contact that assisted us in the arrangements was Linda Schuemann, Senior Catering Manager at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn location at 800 S Illinois Rt 31, Crystal Lake, IL. 60014.
She assisted on so many levels to make this event a huge success, including arranging rooms for guest from afar, arranging the meals, organizing all of the tables, bars, staffing, catering, and even assisting in the management of items being delivered from outside of the hotel itself, which included other vendors. Linda's assistance was what made this most auspicious event the success it was.
One must understand that the parties in attendance to this Ball were VIPS from the military, business, political, veteran, and general community. Everyone praised the food, the service, and amenities, the cleanliness, the building features. Everything about this Ball was successful due to the hard work and dedication provided by Linda.
It would be remiss if I did not mention a few others who involved themselves in assuring our guests and visitors had a wonderful time in comfort and security. Nate was amazing in assisting us during the setup of the room. Mario was incredible as he quietly managed to banquet elements of the event. The staff were non intrusive but service oriented, hard working and attentive.
I am so incredibly proud of the Holiday Inn for what you had done for our organization, making our Ball a huge success, and making our guests feel more than welcome, secure in the knowledge they were in the right place for such an event.
All I can say is OUTSTANDING! We know where to host our upcoming events in the future, thanks to your amazing staff who work so hard. It's important to recognize their efforts, success, and for ensuring that customers will return to this hotel in the future because of our positive experience in the past.

We stayed one night while in the area for a family gathering and we were extremely happy with our stay. The check in was fast and the front desk clerks were all professional and courteous. Our room was a large king suite and it was so clean and comfy. We're IHG members, so we were pleasantly surprised when we had a nice personal note, with snacks and water in our room. We chose the breakfast package and it was worth it. The food was buffet style, but they had a personal chef making made to order omlets, which was delicious. The server was attentive and even the front desk manager walked around to ask us about our stay. I highly recommed staying here.

This is a holiday inn with a ritz Carlton level of service. I have a couple of decades of 200 plus nights a year in hotels and in a past career was a hotel GM.
I recently had an extended stay at this hotel and was so impressed I took another job in the area to stay there again.
This time I watched so many instances of world class customer service.
I saw several instances where they anticipated an upcoming hiccup (a missing menu item, odd kitchen requests, large groups with complex needs) and before the issue happened they swooped in with a better solution.
They remember names, they make you feel welcome, but more they make you feel comfortable and at home. They track preferences, anticipate needs, and find ways to make a stay special.
In particular a few staff stand out:
Silvino the restaurant manager should be listed as an attraction for the property. Aside from doing his job very well, he has a fantastic humor and repartee with everyone
Natasza the manager is a natural leader. She puts her team first by making them better. She makes every guest feel like this is their home.
Aby is a problem solver and one of the friendliest and most positive people that I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
If ever a holiday inn were to compete for a Baldrige Award it would be this one.
