$25 NIGHTLY MANDATORY DESTINATION CAHARGE AND GAS STATION QUALITY TOILET PAPER. This was our third time staying at TheWit in the last 12 months. Since our previous two stays they have enacted a daily $25 resort fee that was nowhere to be found on the AA site we booked from. They have downgraded to cheapest toilet paper you can imagine. The route to elevators is roped off for the line to the nightclub. Not looking to travel with my own toilet paper while in the USA. It is centrally located and close to the subway, but we will no longer stay here.

My partner and I attended the New Years Event at the rooftop bar and it surpassed my expectations. The event was well organized and well staffed from the check in person to the bar staff. I felt secure as not anyone from the public can just walk in. We had a true new years eve celebration with a fun theme and a large dance floor. Although we did not stay the night, it is on my list to stay at this hotel sometime as I was amazed at vibrant and modern amenities there are.

A true, all encompassing 5-star review! Read on! From the time we arrived and met Matthew at the front desk until we departed and Michael was so kind we were sad to leave, we knew this was going to be a great experience! The people are outstanding! Traveling as a family, we were constantly greeted by name, welcomed, engaged with and spoiled. Even the State & Lake restaurant (inside the hotel) was filled with cool ambiance, great food and awesome people (shoutout to Kate)! Location? In a word: unbeatable. CTA trains are literally outside the front door. Miracle Mile (Michigan Ave.) shopping is a 10 minute walk in one direction, with Millennium Park area a 5 minute walk in the other. Perfect location!! Facility is modern, chic and spotless. Rooms are stunning, well stocked (even an Alexa) and flawless. The views from the rooms are enough to make you sit and look out of the window for hours. Beautiful. It IS a large city, so security was important. There was always a contingent of “larger” employees in the lobby that gave us a feeling of safety. Sometimes- like New Year’s Eve- they were armed with metal detectors etc, but you want to feel safe with your family in a large city and they definitely made us feel protected. Even a small issue during our stay was quickly and professional handled by the very impressive General Manager of the property. We travel a lot. We’re Hilton Honors members, and our loyalty was recognized and rewarded. We know hotels and this is an excellent one. Really a gem in the Hilton crown and we will return. Book here, you will not be disappointed!

I am extremely dissatisfied with my stay and do not know where to begin. We booked a lake-view room and called the morning of arrival to confirm. The agent, Lisa, stated that while a lake view was unavailable, we would be given either a city-view room on the 21st floor or a corner room on the 20th floor. Upon arrival, we were instead assigned a 19th-floor room with no view, blocked by the hotel sign. After complaining, we were moved to Room 1712, which was only slightly better and still had no view. That night, we were unable to sleep due to a strong cigarette odor and loud disturbances from the neighboring room between 3–5 a.m. When staff finally addressed the issue, they informed us the guests next door would be penalized $300. Despite this, instead of waiving our room charge for the night we were kept awake, we were offered an insulting $25 voucher. We were then moved again to Room 2202, which had a faulty air-conditioning system. We chose this hotel because I previously lived in Chicago and appreciated its rooftop. However, during our entire three-day stay (Friday 12/26 to Sunday 12/28), the rooftop was closed or they had private events. Additionally, for a five-star hotel, having only one restaurant is unacceptable and inexplicable. This was by far the worst hotel experience I have had in a city I lived in for 11 years.

After a million TikTok scrolls of hotels to choose for my staycation in Chicago, I came across The Wit Hotel. I am a sucker for a nice view so I selected the King Spa Suite. The first night of my stay they weren’t able to give me the room I selected because they were all booked! But I was told that I would be able to switch rooms the next day. I followed up with the front desk the next morning and Gerald was able to accommodate me and get my room switched with no problem as promised. Both rooms were VERY clean and completely comfortable! I took so many naps lol! The view from the 6th floor was actually AMAZING and LUXURIOUS. I was facing the Chicago Theater perfectly and the view of State & Lake was breathtaking. I didn’t want to leave. My spa appointment was memorable, the two ladies at the front desk were very classy and had amazing customer service. My masseuse Chris… had hands that are BLESSED! I’ve had massages before but none that released both tension and emotion! The food & drinks at the Tavern were Delicious! I didn’t have to leave this hotel for anything! This was the best birthday gift to myself and thank you to The Wit & their team for making this a memorable luxurious birthday gift. And thank you for making my first Staycation the best decision I’ve made for my birthday plans in a long time.
