We chose this hotel because my father is undergoing open heart surgery this week at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, and we needed a comfortable, reliable place to stay during a very stressful time. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing.
Both rooms were uncomfortably cold despite setting the thermostat to 80 degrees. The temperature never adjusted, making it difficult to rest. When we requested extra blankets, we were told they would be brought to our room, but instead they were left sitting at the front desk for us to retrieve ourselves.
My husband is also recovering from surgery, so proper rest is not optional — it’s necessary. The lack of temperature control, combined with the hotel’s overall worn and poorly maintained condition, made this stay especially frustrating.
We would not recommend this property to anyone needing a clean, comfortable, and well-managed place to stay — particularly those traveling for medical reasons.
While this location is ideal for visitors of Northwestern hospital, the rooms are anything but. The heaters would pump cold air into the room, and with winter, the rooms are frigid. All the hotel will do is get you into a new room. We have now changed rooms 3 times. We have now decided to eat the cost and just move to the Hyatt Centric that is connected to the hospital. We have to give up the kitchenette but worth paying more for a reputable hotel and room. Do not stay here, the staff was trying to be helpful but ultimately, they didn’t really care.
I was a bit skeptical at first because of the mixed reviews, but our experience turned out to be very good. I had emailed the hotel beforehand to let them know we would be arriving close to midnight on Christmas, and they kindly reassured me not to worry. Indeed, we were welcomed without any issues and the check-in process was smooth.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and pleasant. The kitchenette worked perfectly, which was very convenient. The only minor detail was that in both of our rooms the refrigerator doors had some dents, but this did not affect their functionality at all.
The location is excellent… right across from the Harry Potter store and just one block from the Starbucks Reserve. It’s also very accessible by public transportation, with buses that take you downtown, to Millennium Park, and to many museums.
Breakfast was very good, not extremely varied but sufficient. During peak season it does get crowded, and you may wait up to 20 minutes to make waffles, plus food tends to run out quickly. The elevators also took a while since there were many guests, but it wasn’t a major issue.
Overall, the facilities are more than adequate for the price offered. We would definitely return someday. We are still waiting for the refund of our security deposit, but we are confident it will be resolved favorably.
Highly recommended!

Rude front desk. Checked me in without permission and refused to refund me. They told me to talk to the GM. Left multiple messages but she never responded. Do not recommend.
Edit: despite assurance they'd investigate, I have yet to receive anything else
