One of the Worst Hotel Experiences I’ve Ever Had! This hotel failed on the most basic responsibilities of hospitality: safety and accountability. **First—and most serious—our room was robbed.** A laptop, two iPads, and a camera were stolen directly from our room while my husband was asleep in the bedroom with the doors closed. The circumstances strongly suggest an inside job or, at the very least, a shocking lapse in security. There are no security cameras on any guest floors, nor outside elevators or stairwells—an astonishing oversight for any modern hotel. Management claimed to follow “protocol,” yet that protocol somehow couldn’t determine who accessed our room or when. What makes this even more infuriating is that all three devices were actively tracked after the theft. We provided management with details and a clear one-hour window during which the devices were taken. Despite this concrete information, the final response was essentially, “nothing can be done.” No accountability, no meaningful investigation, and no reassurance that guest safety is taken seriously. **Second, sleep here is very difficult.** The hotel is directly next door to a fire and ambulance station. Sirens go off throughout the night—loud, frequent, and disruptive (even with ear plugs). This critical detail was not disclosed prior to booking. Between the theft, the lack of basic security infrastructure, the powerless management response and nighttime noise, this stay was stressful, unsafe, and deeply disappointing.

Just got back from a week long stay in 1229. Nice corner top floor suite. The fire department across the street didnt bother me much since we travel with a big fan. Staff was very nice and helpful... just send them a message on the app. Breakfast area was large but arrive before 745am or you will be waiting a bit. Everything was stocked and kept clean. It was a great stay and not too far from the Red line stop.

We had no noise issues with the firehouse nearby. Just pack earplugs if you are worried. Central location is great and the staff was very friendly. The sofa bed is in desperate need of a new mattress, it sunk in the middle. Our youngest slept fine but it needs to be replaced. Overall, I’d stay again, lots of room for a family of 5.

I'm so happy with our stay! From the moment we walked in, I knew we had made the right choice. The hotel is beautiful--it's probably one of the coolest lobbies I've seen--the staff was immediately helpful and friendly (thank you, especially, to Yolo at the front desk for being so gracious and welcoming!) and the Italian restaurant was phenomenal and classy with an excellent happy hour menu! The hotel is clean and very well cared for with great amenities. Breakfast isn't fancy, but it's good, fresh, and FREE (which I've learned is a hot commodity in Chicago) with plenty of hot food options. The location is top notch--easily within walking distance of Magnificent Mile, the Theater District, and Riverwalk with plenty of bars and restaurants close by. This was perfect for us. Thank you!
