This hotel has a very convenient location, within walking distance to the Chicago Theatre, Navy Pier, etc. The prices are pretty reasonable as well, but I definitely believe you get what you pay for in this instance. The rooms are extremely small (to be expected in a city), but they were showing signs of age as well as uncleanliness. Upon entering our room, we found a dried up contact lens on the floor of the bathroom, as well as pretty dramatic wear and tear on the sliding bathroom door. The bathroom floors were also littered with either paint splashes or something else entirely. The lamp shades had also seen better days. Again, it wasn't terrible considering the price and location, but I feel that the cleanliness could have been better.

The room is a bit small but clean and functional.
The digital key system doesn’t work in this building despite the app saying my room was available with a digital key.
The fitness center is sad. 2/3 treadmills are out of order and the incline doesn’t work on the 1 remaining. 1/2 ellipticals also out of order. There are no free weights, only a dual pulley machine.

Had a wonderful time staying here. Great room with gorgeous views. I lost something of great value to me and didn’t realize until after I checked out. The staff was so kind and worked very hard to find my items and return them too. Excellent customer service from start to finish. We will define back.
We stayed for two nights with a group of friends. Overall, we were satisfied with the experience as the location was walkable to restaurants, transportation, and entertainment. However, it appears to be severely understaffed. One person on duty at the desk, responsible for all check-in’s checkouts, cleaning, stocking the bar and serving. He was excellent and very accommodating, but clearly the hotel needs to provide more staff for their guests. We ordered a drink at the bar and there were no glasses available. There were no glasses in the bedroom either, only paper cups. The bar was poorly stocked, the beers and wine were at room temperature. These issues fall squarely on the shoulders of the owners.
Short review: no, I do not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again. However, if you are okay with compromising on quality so that you can have a somewhat affordable hotel right in downtown, then you might be okay with this hotel. Long review: Doing my best to keep this short. We arrived at 9pm and were told our room was not ready, a real gut-punch after our 5 hour drive. We waited about 10 minutes and were told it was ready. The room [1101] was tiny and smelled like stinky feet. This was our room for five nights. Our view of the river was excellent though. I called the desk to switch rooms because of the smell, but this was the only river view room they had available. The hotel offered us a small discount which, in the end, was just 5% off our total stay - not enough by any stretch to compensate for all of the issues. The carpet was really stained by the door, and seemed dirty throughout. My shoes would stick to the floor - too dirty to walk barefoot for sure. There was an ugly orange extension cord plugged into one of our wall outlets. Not classy. The heating/cooling unit made a high pitched whine when running, which we also heard in a unit in the lobby so that is just how they sound. The room had no dresser, so we had to live out of our suitcases the whole time. There was a small wardrobe to hang a few things. The wallpaper in our bathroom was white, and didn’t hide the small splotches of stuff on it that needed cleaning; there were also splotches on the back of the door. There was a tile loose and just propped up against the base of the wall. The sliding bathroom door would not always stay fully closed and would usually slide open a couple of inches even after repeatedly closing it, which was awkward when going to the bathroom. Bathroom had no ventilation. We requested an ozone machine to address the room’s stinky smell. I called while we were out to ask that the ozone machine be removed by 1:30 as we would be returning shortly after that. When we returned to our room at 2:30, the machine was still there, running. After an ozone machine runs, you are not supposed to be in that room for 1-2 hours. My husband knew this for some reason, and I looked online and he was correct. So we went to the desk and the manager ran up to our room to remove the machine, insisting that it was safe for us to return right away. We were not convinced, so we propped our hallway door open for about 10 minutes, providing those passing with a direct view into our room. We did not get room service on Sunday for some reason, so my husband went down to the desk to get towels. But they did not have them so said they would have them sent up. One hour later we still had not gotten them so called the desk and the person at the desk [a manager, I believe] brought them to us. Two hours later, we had a knock on the door with a towel delivery. We did take the additional towels. Funnily enough, the room service staff took away all of our extra towels the next day when they serviced our room, leaving us with just the two paltry bath towels. Breakfast was really overcrowded on the weekends and we had to wait for a seat. I asked staff if there were any trays so we could carry food up to our room and there were not. When I informed the staff that a food item was out, which happened most mornings [we were there five mornings], they were always slightly annoyed because they clearly were understaffed, which I felt bad about. The lobby was beautiful but the Art Deco hanging lights all had clumps of dust on the glass, which contributed to a sense that the place was not clean. The floors by the door had what looked like gum or some other black substance adhered to them in a couple of spots. The few times we interacted with the Valets, they were great. The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest subway station, depending on how fast you walk. Overall, I absolutely would not stay here again. The negatives far, far outweigh the positives.
