The rating is gave is due to the parking. Be prepared to pay between 45 and 60 dollars a day for parking. There is no breakfast included. It's a hot location and even though the rooms are small the views are nice and the staff on every shift get 100% love for being awesome! They will guide u offer up info and locations and do their best to help u enjoy your stay at the lowest prices they can.

You get what you pay for and I wanted a cheaper hotel so I could have more money for experiences with my kids but there are two unacceptable things happening here, despite the price. First, the bathroom fan never shuts off and it is not only really loud, putting a strain on your ears and mental health, but when you close the door, it creates actual WIND. The bathroom is windy, and very uncomfortable for it. Second, the shower has zero ability to regulate temperature. There's no middle ground to manipulate a balance between hot and cold- it's either one or the other- the lava pits of hell, or skinny dipping in the arctic. It's truly awful to shower in. Probably the worst I've ever had. The staff is wonderful- friendly and helpful, but some attention needs paid to these bathrooms, because it's borderline unbearable.

I would not recommend this hotel. Our shower leaked the whole time and it was quite an annoying noise. It was obvious this had been going on for a while because the walls were showing signs of water damage. It was leaking when we arrived and the bathroom floor was wet because of it. The bathroom is also not very functional for getting ready there’s no where to put anything, as a woman this was particularly frustrating. You can also hear noises from the other rooms and the hallway pretty clearly and on the day we checked out our neighbors were in a screaming match the entire morning. It is in a good location for exploring but that’s all it’s got going for it.
Stay away from this hotel. PERIOD. I rate this hotel with a Triple D. Damaged, Dirty, and Dangerous.
If you get room 423, you better ask for a different one asap, though I'm not sure it'll help.
Pro: centrally located spot in Chicago, everything is close by.
Bad: booked the king size suite for 3 nights for about $1000 which we knew what we were getting into with it being St. Patrick's Day weekend and in a central location. It was supposed be a lowkey weekend that turned super stressful.
The room was damaged, dirty and carpet reeked. When rinsing your mouth in sink water, it tastes off. And no, it wasn't just city tap. Makes you scared that you're in a Cecil Hotel situation.
On night 2, the lamp burst and shocked my partner and took out the power in the room. I reported it to the front desk concierge, Issac, who was nonchalant and didn't act surprised at all. There was no apology or asking if we were ok. He simply called an engineer up and acted like we were bothering him for reporting this.
We go back upstairs and the engineer had turned the power back on by that time. When he went to remove the lamp, it blew again and we had a firework show of sparks. He was super apologetic about our situation and remarked that it was super dangerous and was glad he didn't touch it when it sparked. Me too dude.
I went back down to ask Issac to get in touch with management because this was just getting crazy. He stated that Oscar, the front desk manager, wouldn't be back in until the 8am in the morning. I asked him if he could take an incident report to document it and Issac said no. Dude....
Next day, I go down at 8:12am and ask for Oscar. Oh he's not here yet. (I'll give him grace, maybe he's running late)
I go back to check in later in the day to speak with Oscar. I explain the prior night, and damage to the room etc. and he says he understands. Doesn't do an incident report as I re-requested. Can't offer us another room because they are full. Only gives 1 night refund because the incident ONLY happened that one day even though the room was less than adequate and all other outlets were questionable.
I don't book hotels often and didn't realize Best Westerns were independently owned franchises. My bad for not doing research, you're bad for operating a business poorly.
UPDATE:
thanks but no thanks for the apology. This response to the review was clearly a canned response with adjustments. Dear Oscar, you responded to my review with regret and promise to take my feedback seriously, but I spoke with you directly in person about my concerns and issues. I even wrote in my initial review that I RE-REQUESTED an incident report from YOU.
This clearly just shows a lack of honest concern to the issues brought to your attention that you could've and should've addressed at the time it was brought to your attention.
