We arrived after a long drive to find the accessible room we had booked a number of weeks before had been given away. We had not been contacted about the change. The initial substituted room would probably have been acceptable if we had not needed an accessible room. The only accessible room still available was across from the front desk, which was a noisy location. There was no desk chair, the dishwasher was broken and the ice maker was broken. It also had 2 double beds instead of the king we had booked. The only positive in the situation was a front desk clerk who was kind and tried to help us the best she could. We made the best of the situation as it was only for one night, but my requests to speak to the manager about the situation have gone unanswered. I travel frequently for work and often stay in IHG properties. I understand some situations are unavoidable and I have certainly been flexible at times. But I believe this situation WAS avoidable and at the very least I should have been contacted about the proposed room change. And what is most unacceptable is the lack of communication from the manager. People have many lodging options in Champaign and we'll make a different choice next time we're in town.

After a long day of driving 12 hours i checked in (I guess the front desk lady was nice enough) & I had gotten to my room on the third floor (with my 3 bags & dog), & started unpacking before realizing my bed was stripped with the comforter thrown over the chair. I was not going through the hassle of bringing all of my bags & my dog, downstairs so I just made the bed since the clean sheets were folded next to the pillows. (I worked as a housekeeper in high school so I can do it pretty quick.) After making the bed I walk into the bathroom to take a nice, relaxing shower just to find there was no shower curtain! At this point I look for a plug to the drain (unsuccessful but I was hoping I could at least take a bath since I wasn’t feeling great) and decided to just go to sleep as I was exhausted with another 10 hours of driving the next day. Other than that it wasn’t the worst place I’ve stayed.

Located on a quiet street. Room contains full fridge and apartment sink, microwave, and stove. Very clean and beds are comfy, firm, but not hard. Bathroom had shower w tub. Quiet place overall. Some weird noises at night, but all within the room.... clicking, fan on heater, etc, ice maker in fridge. Maids and desk clerks very friendly and helpful. Free coffee (very good), and hot tea 24/7.

I came to this hotel in early November for an event taking place at the U of I. I came up here alone and needed a cheap place to stay. Since this was an IHG hotel (and I've had positive experiences with them before), I decided to make a last minute booking. For starters, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay! I had no issues checking in and out, and after I left I had to come back because I had forgot some things in my room. They allowed me to go back to the room and get them! I worried that their allowance of pets on the property would make sleeping at night an issue, but other than getting mean mugged by a fat orange cat on my way into the hotel, I can say the addition of pets didn't cause any problems! The room I stayed in was TINY, which was great for me since I was sleeping in the room alone. Overall I would say the room was alright, but there were a few problems with the room I was staying in in particular. For one, the bathroom. The bathtub was fine, however it looked like somebody had busted a hole in the side of it at some point as there was a large plaster cover over the side of the tub. It was a little gaudy, but it's whatever, it did its job and held water in the tub. What was a lot harder to ignore or write off, however, was the inexplicable banging/popping sound coming from the heater? Every now and then, the heater next to the bed would make this audible bang/pop while running. I don't know what it was or why it was making that sound, but at one point it was loud enough to wake me up in my sleep. While I'll say there are hotels I've had better sleeping experiences with, I am willing to give it another chance in March when I'll be back up in Champaign. The price simply can't be beat, and there's no point in paying for extras when I'll arrive too late or leave too early to get to them... or ones I don't even use while I'm there!
