  We have had great experiences here. Clean rooms, great breakfast, and helpful staff! We come to Carbondale frequently and have found this to be one of the best places to stay!

  I do not recommend this hotel, especially if you’re a State of Illinois government employee. I reserved 2 nights at government rate, and at check in Antonio told me that I didn’t qualify for the state government rate because I was U of I faculty /staff. He explained that if I was law enforcement, or part of Illinois Fire Service Institute (which is also part of U of I) then I would qualify. How do some employees of U of I qualify for the government rate, but others do not? That seems discriminatory to me. Please make it make sense!!! I’ve stayed here (& at other Hiltons across the country) repeatedly, and never had this issue. This hotel is listed on my employers preferred hotel listing at Illinois.gov but they refused to honor the state government rate listed on Illinois.gov preferred hotel listing. I left without ever checking in, getting a key, etc and I was still charged. I asked to speak to a manager, but was told one isn’t available until after the holidays. This has been the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had at a Hilton. This location cannot claim to be part of “the most hospitable company in the world” - they do not care about their guests and how negatively they are impacting their travel experience. If I could give a 0/5 then I would.

  This hotel is very well located, staff very friendly but that’s all .. everything in that hotel is dirty and sticky, the carpet, elevators, rooms have an unpleasant smell and also need a very deep cleaning. They offer breakfast but it has no variety. 200 dlls for this Hotel is very expensive.

  No wonder the front desk gives out ear plugs… This hotel is across the street from the train station so we wee constantly woken up as the train went by. There’s loud traffic outside, the shower kept dripping and you could hear people talking loudly in the hallway. If that’s not enough, the bathroom door doesn’t shut. It’s a pocket door that physically does not stay closed because of the slope in the floor. As the lady at the front desk said “the building has settled since it has been built so most of the rooms have non functioning pocket doors”. After informing the front desk I was given a door stopper to “solve” this issue. Will not be staying here again.

  This place is gross. There were people running through the hallways barefoot. The walls were thin so you were hear what your neighbors are doing. At 2:00 am our room started to smell strongly of cigarette smoke. We checked the hallway and there was no one there. It had to be one of our neighbors smoking in their room. The rooms were pretty beat up and had gross carpeting. The bed did seem clean and it was per friendly.
