- MKMichael KasingerJan 2, 20262.0The room was nice and clean. Everything was clean and well stocked. The staff was courteous and helpful when we checked in. The only issue we had was around 4 am I woke to use the restroom and we found a bug on the bed. I caught it, and put it in a cup before searching the internet to find that it was in fact a bed bug. We stripped the bed and didn't find any more, but going back to sleep wasn't possible. When we left I gave the cup with the bug in it to the guy at the front desk. Hopefully they fix the issue. This is the first bad review I have left for any place I have visited. Normally I just won't visit a place again, but I wish I would have seen a review warning me of a bed bug issue before booking my room, so I am warning others now.

The room was clean and cozy. Back to Elizabeth, she’s fantastic and needs a raise. She’s everything that a hotel front desk person should be. Ms Annette is doing a phenomenal job for breakfast. Keeping everything fresh and making sure everyone was doing good. She was super sweet as well. Thank you Holiday Inn Express-Alton for a great stay! This is the first time we’ve stayed in a hotel in a while that everyone was exactly what hotel staff should be.
