I routinely stay at the Best Western Plus Caldwell Inn & Suites for weekly work travel and have never had issues...until now. The day before my planned stay, I called the hotel to confirm availability. A man at the front desk (who I later learned was the General Manager) assisted me. I clarified that the reservation was for the following day, and he told me everything was set. The next day, I received an email asking me to rate my stay, before I even arrived. That’s when I realized my reservation had been made for the wrong date. I immediately called the hotel and spoke with a woman named Anna. I explained the situation and mentioned the unfamiliar male employee who took my call the day before. She confirmed it was their GM. I assumed the mistake would be quickly resolved once they reviewed the recorded call because she openly admitted that all calls are recorded. Instead, she told me she would “investigate” and call me back. When she finally did, she was extremely defensive and claimed the GM “swore up and down” that I requested the wrong date. I calmly told her that I knew exactly when I needed the room and asked them to review the phone recording. She refused to release or check the call and insisted I would be charged for a no-call/no-show. What made this situation even more concerning was discovering that they did not charge the company card I had on file with them, which is what I always use. Instead, they charged my personal debit card without my knowledge or authorization. When I questioned this, Anna said they couldn't charge the company card, likely because they didn’t have my signature, yet they somehow felt comfortable charging a different card they had on file without my permission. I explained that I would be disputing the charge since (1) I didn’t authorize it, and (2) the reservation date was entered incorrectly by their staff. She then became rude, told me the mistake was mine, informed me I was no longer welcome to stay at their hotel, and hung up on me. Later, I received an email from the GM that read: “Thank you for sharing your opinion. I am sorry that you booked for the wrong date. Please note that you are not allowed at our property anymore, so there is no concern with this happening again.” This level of unprofessionalism from management is astonishing. Rather than admitting to a clear mistake (one that could be easily proven by their own recorded calls), they chose to double down, blame the customer, mishandle billing, and then ban me from the property for questioning an unauthorized charge. I’ve stayed here many times without issue, but after this experience and after reading other reviews mentioning similar behavior from management, I will not return and neither will any driver from my company as I have informed them of this situation. Their handling of this situation was embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely avoidable.

Do not expect anything from this motel. We travel often with our sports team, always at similar level hotels. The service here was horrible. The fitness center was closed down, so no where to fill water bottles. No bathroom open in lobby. No option for to use conference room. The breakfast was disgusting. Other hotels have always worked with our team when we need something, this hotel staff was so inflexible.

I should have known when I checked in. The lobby restroom was out of service for renovation and the desk clerk was rude to everyone, about that and pretty much everything. Why not post a nicely printed sign so she doesn't have to repeat herself 100 times a night? The room was *filthy*! Ick on the floor, mildew on the tub grout, dust bunnies around the furniture. And the stupid metal bed frame was not level, so clanked back and forth every time I rolled over. This scuzzy room is not what I expect from a Best Western. Shame on you. Shame on the lazy staff who can't be bothered to do their job(s). And the pool !! Oh. My. G*d. I have only seen one any worse in all of the traveling I have done for work or personal travel. Both the pool and hot tub have a *nasty* gray bathtub ring. I was hopeful that it was a mineral buildup, so scraped it with my thumbnail. Nope! It was a thick wad of greasy gunk that was obviously body oils and other stuff I don't wanna know about. I had already stepped into the pool before I noticed. Barf. I try to say nice things in reviews, but I just couldn't.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing Stay – Avoid This Hotel Our experience at the Best Western Suites in Caldwell, ID was awful from start to finish. The rooms were dirty, and the entire hotel lobby was covered in sheetrock dust from ongoing construction. It looked and felt like a work zone rather than a place to relax. To make things worse, one of the employees — a heavy-set man working the breakfast area — rudely accused us of not having a room and demanded our room number and last name in front of other guests. It was completely unprofessional and embarrassing. Yesterday, we were also disturbed in our room by hotel staff during their construction work. On top of that, the coffee maker in our room was broken and the TV didn’t work at all. For the price we paid, this stay was a huge disappointment. I’d strongly recommend avoiding this location until they finish construction, clean properly, and retrain their staff on how to treat paying guests.
