I'm writing on behalf of my mother who is currently trekking across the country and wanted to avoid Chicago's traffic. She has now span many nights in hotel rooms, especially beat western and noted how beautiful this one was. It stood out more than most.
She is traveling with her dog and greatly appreciated the pet friendly aspect of this hotel, not only for the fact they allow pets, hut had spacious grassy areas for her dog to walk, smell and enjoy.
Also notable for this hotel - very quiet. Always appreciated when traveling and you end up on hotels right off/near the highway. It was very clean, what should be industry standard, but sometimes others fall below. The staff were both friendly and efficient which appreciated every time to get in and out of the hotel. Would absolutely stay again.
Was woken up by hotel staff at least 10 times in just over 9 hours.
Checked in at 9am. By 930 the cleaners were loudly dropping trash cans or something outside my room. I think I fell asleep by 11, then they started knocking on the door. Every time I progressively got louder saying "I'm here until 7pm." The 4th time they knocked i yelled go away at the door, they yelled back "check out is at 11." I snapped. The front desk lady said she didn't want to put me by the pool because it was too loud, but I'm not sure this was any quieter.
Then, I'm wide awake because I'm getting irritated by all this, and the maintenance guy starts cleaning all his tools off WITH COMPRESSED AIR right outside my window at 130. Then around 2pm I took a shower and ordered food to try and sleep. When I got out of the shower it was incredibly hot in the room... the air broke.
Called the front desk, maintenance came and fixed eventually. Finally get to sleep by 4pm, and they ring the room phone at 615pm. I didn't ask for an alarm clock, I asked for peace and quiet.
Wow. As someone who spends over $10k per year on hotels, I can tell you this is the 2nd worst experience I've ever had.
There was a red roof inn in CT that gave my room card to another group of drunk people, who stormed in my room at bar close time. That scared the life out of me. This was a close 2nd on worst hotel experience ever
Pathetic service, new front desk staff cannot get a simple ADA room reservation right, nor adjoining room reservation, made over the phone with the front desk and confirmed twice more on phone, laundry facilities removed, restaurant / bar closed, forced to use side-door (outer and inner doors) with no opener with two elderly parents and trek down the hall to a non-ada room
The hotel was great and pool area was very well kept for the age. Pool was a good temperature and hot tub was hot. At check-in they went over the list of pool rules. Breakfast was good they had people checking the food every 5 mins to see if they needed to fill more. Rooms were clean but the furnishings are getting pretty old. Going thru a bunch of hotels in the area this one seemed the best with kids and after staying here I'm happy with my choice.

Save yourself the annoyance and do not book here. Any of the rules the hotel has only apply when they feel like it. We were told we needed wristbands to be in the common area and pool, yet all day people without wristbands were coming and going. There were also several huge parties with most people not wearing wristbands. I’m assuming they weren’t guests, but were taking up space from those who did pay. If I had to compare this stay to anything, it’s like staying overnight at a Chuck E Cheese. Kids running around screaming with no parents in sight. Random parties going on in the common area filled with non guests. Kids still running around and stomping on upper floors after 11pm. All of these issues were brought to staff attention, someone did finally come around and tell people they needed wristbands. This cleared up the pool and common area immensely. Don’t know why I payed to be here then. When we called staff about people running and stomping on the upper floors at 11pm, we were told there was nothing they could do. Oh, and if you have a poolside room like another member of our party did, be prepared for unsupervised kids banging on your window and door, especially at night. You will also be able to hear kids screaming at the top of their lungs in the echoing common area. Good luck using the hot tub, unsupervised small children are there the whole time. At no point did staff check on any of this until we finally complained. Make no mistake, we also brought kids, and we were expecting other kids to be here. We followed the rules though, which we now know are just suggestions. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve stayed at amazing Best Westerns before, but this one has changed my view. I’ve stayed in cheap hostels overseas that were better than this. Only stay here if you want a cheap place to loiter and/or you are an incredibly irresponsible parent who just wants to set their child loose. Don’t plan on sleeping until after midnight though once the stomping on upper floors stops.
