By far the worst experience ever staying at a hotel with our 8U hockey team. Definitely do not recommend staying here! This man is the GM of this hotel from what I'm seeing. This fella barged into the conference room that our group rented and acted like a complete jackass! He was literally screaming at a group of about 20 children 8 yrs old and under, and about 30 adults. Our group easily spent over $15,000 at this establishment between dining, rooms & the about 30 pizzas we ordered from them. He threw a complete fit about a veggie tray, some cookies, a few other snacks and a couple coolers. This was by far the most unprofessional experience I've ever encountered with a hotel staff member. He showed absolutely no regard for the multiple children that went crying and screaming out the other door when he barged in and threw his fit. This business made it very clear to all of us that they do not care about or welcome any youth travel sports teams. I will never return or recommend anyone else go to this hotel.

Our experience at this Best Western was extremely disappointing and unlike anything we’ve encountered in over 10 years of traveling with hockey teams. Our three hockey teams blocked off more than 30 rooms and also booked a conference room to celebrate a player’s birthday with pizza and cake. We were explicitly told we could not use the conference room unless we purchased food from their attached restaurant, so we complied and spent nearly $450 on pizza and breadsticks. While the kids were eating, they were playing knee hockey inside the conference room with all doors closed, fully contained and supervised. Suddenly, an employee burst into the room and launched into a very theatrical and aggressive outburst, screaming at a group of over 50 people. He yelled that we were not allowed to have any outside food (including cookies, cake, a veggie tray, or drinks), screamed about the knee hockey, and threatened to kick all 30+ families out of the hotel if everything wasn’t cleaned up and put away within five minutes. His tone and behavior were completely unprofessional and inappropriate—especially for a room full of children. Multiple kids were brought to tears, and one child had a full-blown panic attack. Several kids were so frightened that they ran out of the room to hide, creating even more chaos as parents had to search for them. One father attempted to de-escalate the situation by speaking with the employee in the hallway, but it made no difference. The employee returned to the room and continued screaming a second time. Meanwhile, in a nearby conference room, another group was enjoying a Christmas gathering with tables lined with crock pots and liquor bottles—apparently with no issue. The employee claimed we had all “signed contracts” at check-in and should have known the rules. This is simply not accurate. Only about half the team was even presented with a contract, no one was given time to read it before signing, and no copies were provided for reference afterward. Adding to the frustration, many families had already spent money at the hotel restaurant the night before and earlier that same evening. Despite this, the staff could barely manage drink service for a table of eight, let alone a group of 50. The hotel itself is outdated and mid-remodel, including a leaking roof in the hallway with a bucket collecting water, which guests had to walk around. Given the condition of the property, the extreme and selective enforcement of rules feels especially unreasonable. This was, without question, the most erratic, hostile, and unprofessional behavior we have ever experienced while traveling with youth sports teams. We will not be returning and would strongly caution other teams or large groups before booking here.

Unacceptable and Disturbing Experience We had a truly shocking and upsetting experience at this hotel. Our group was using one of the hotel’s conference rooms for a small pizza party and to celebrate a child’s birthday. In the middle of the celebration, a hotel manager suddenly stormed into the room and yelled at all of us, including children. He aggressively threatened that if we took any outside food and drink with us, we would be forced to check out that very night. This behavior was completely unacceptable!! Several children were visibly frightened. Some were so scared they didn’t even dare to continue eating. I have never witnessed such intimidating, hostile behavior from hotel staff in my life—especially toward families and children. What should have been a joyful birthday celebration turned into a traumatic experience for many of the kids. What makes this even more disturbing is that we clearly saw other guests openly taking food and drinks, yet they were not confronted or threatened in the same way. The inconsistency and unfair treatment were obvious and deeply upsetting. We are still in disbelief that something like this could happen at a hotel that claims to welcome guests and families. This level of aggression, lack of professionalism, and disregard for children is unacceptable. I would strongly caution families and groups against staying here.

EDIT TO ADD: The aggressive and inexcusable behavior displayed by your General Manager is completely unacceptable. His level of hostility caused my son to experience a panic attack. No policy—regardless of its wording—justifies that level of unprofessional conduct, especially toward children. If carry-in beverages were truly prohibited, then why was the restaurant not properly staffed or a bar available for our group to purchase drinks during our time in the conference room? Your facility clearly did not have the staffing or capacity to accommodate a group of our size. Had we been allowed to continue our pizza party in the conference room with the very EXPENSIVE PIZZA we purchased directly from you, all children would have remained contained, supervised, and calm—rather than being subjected to unnecessary confrontation. Also if it is prohibited, why was there another conference room full of people eating only brought in food and drinks? If you are going to enforce a policy you better damn well be consistent. This was an extremely disappointing experience. I would not return. If I could give zero stars, I would. Our stay was frustrating from start to finish. Upon arrival, we discovered the elevator was out of service, and there was no prior communication about this. We were forced to carry all of our luggage up three flights of stairs, which was especially difficult with small children. The hotel itself was dirty, and staff were generally rude and unhelpful. Throughout the weekend, we were made to feel like an inconvenience, despite the fact that our group spent a significant amount of money at this facility over a two-day stay, including food, drinks, and room bookings. The most unacceptable incident occurred when we had booked a private conference room and spent over $400 on pizzas (from the hotel) for our team. While everyone was sitting and eating dinner, a manager stormed into the room screaming at our group, telling us we had five minutes to remove all “carry-in items.” These items consisted of water bottles, soda, homemade chocolate chip cookies, and raw vegetables. Many of us had already spent significant money on drinks and appetizers at their on-site restaurant, Bennigan’s. Mind you, there is no way the restaurant could have had the staff or capacity to serve each member of our large group beverages. The manager’s rage and completely unprofessional behavior caused several children to become visibly scared, and our son was brought to tears by the way he was treated. No child should ever be subjected to that kind of behavior from hotel staff. We ultimatelt left the conference room over these minor items, despite the fact that another conference room nearby was openly using outside food and homemade items without any issue. The lack of consistency, professionalism, and basic courtesy was shocking. The hallways were also scattered with carry in food and drinks ordered by other patrons. This hotel clearly does not value its guests, especially families and group bookings. I would not recommend staying here.

This place is a complete dump. It smells like mold and stale basement. The fire detector was hanging off the wall, water leaking in the hallway ceiling, and the lady manager was nasty and rude. Beware. A total dump. EDIT: I want to be very clear: my original review was posted before the incident that management later chose to respond to. Their response does not address the actual conditions of this hotel, which remain unacceptable and misleading based on how the property is marketed online. This hotel is in extremely poor condition. The rooms are outdated, unclean, and have a strong mold or musty odor. There were serious cleanliness concerns, including frequent reports of bedbugs. The building itself is clearly deteriorating—leaking roofs, frequent fire alarms, and a general state of disrepair that raises safety concerns. The hallways and common areas smell unpleasant, and there were individuals openly smoking substances outside of rooms during our stay. The staff was consistently unfriendly and unprofessional. Their behavior was uncomfortable and, at times, inappropriate. This environment is not suitable for families or group events. Regarding the banquet room incident: the issue was not about policy enforcement. Other groups were openly bringing food, alcohol, and supplies into their banquet spaces without issue. Our group purchased approximately 30 pizzas from your establishment and had a few crock pots, cookies, and a small amount of beer. One staff member escalated the situation unnecessarily, lost control of his emotions, and caused a public scene in front of children. This individual displayed no managerial composure or professionalism. The response from the hotel and owner completely avoids addressing the actual problems with the property itself and instead deflects blame to a single altercation—an altercation caused by poor leadership and lack of emotional control on their end. Bottom line: this hotel is misrepresented online, poorly maintained, and unprofessionally managed. I strongly advise travelers to stay elsewhere. Buyer beware. Stay Elsewhere.
