Beyond incredible stay that breaks the rating scale. Words cannot express the service, beauty and atmosphere. This is a trip that will top all others. Lana’i is best suited for those that want a rejuvenating experience at a slower pace. Imagine a private island with hospitality professionals at the top of the game. I consider myself fortunate to get to experience what Four Seasons delivers here. The property is in excellent condition and very clean. Prior to going I was worried we’d run out of food options but the menus are large and food quality excellent. 11 out of 10 star stay for sure.

Everyone at the resort is exceptional and friendly and gracious. The service is first rate. And the grandkids loved the children's pool and were totally spoiled by the staff — they knew their names and were so patient. The rooms were beautiful.

We just got home after 5 days of a WONDERFUL trip! I have nothing but glowing things to say about the entire adventure. From the flight in on Lanai Air to the transfers, the Bell reception, the reception desks, the adventure staff, the pool staff and all of the restaurants! Major shout out to the pool and Beach staff starting with who I believe was the manager, Jay. We met him the very first day and he was amazing every time we saw him. The entire pool staff were absolutely fantastic and although they all remembered our names the entire visit I can only name a few, Alex at the Beach, and Ditto at the pool. We had many people who took care of us and that is not to leave any of them out! We did not have one sub par encounter with ANYONE at the resort. It was a very special retirement trip for us and we enjoyed every bit of it. Golf was worth every penny. We have played MANY beautiful golf courses over the years and this was the most beautiful we have ever played. Every hole had spectacular views and the course itself was immaculate!! Our Sailing/Snorkel adventure was great as well. The ride was a bit rough because of weather but the snorkel spot was beautiful. The Staff on the boat were so fun and we enjoyed getting to know them as well! Thank you to the Island Of Lanai as well for sharing your very special place!

I love this hotel. Just returned two weeks ago. This was our third time visiting the property. It checks all my boxes for what I am looking for in a beach holiday: quiet, beautiful resort, wonderful bay/beach, and great for snorkeling. Rooms are beautiful; staff is wonderful; and now with the addition of Osteria Mozza to compliment Nobu - dining options are perfect. If I could make this resort perfect it would have a better spa facility (the treatment rooms are very good but the locker room area could be much better and include a "wet room" area I have experienced in other 5 star resorts which include: steam, infra red sauna, cold plunge pool and hot pool. Also, was extremely disappointed to learn that the resort currently does not offer scuba diving due to not having the proper boat. Apparently, off the coast of Lanai is one of the top 10 dive sites in the world, The Cathedrals, and no dive boat???
While the property itself is undeniably beautiful and thoughtfully designed, several serious issues significantly detracted from the experience and fell well below the standard I associate with the FS brand.
1. Room Sanitation – Cockroach Infestation
During our stay, we encountered a severe cockroach issue in the bathroom. Over the course of a single night, we observed at least ten cockroaches!!! They were on the bathroom floor, in the shower, and on my makeup!!! That was extremely distressing and unhygienic. I had to kill several of them myself :(
I was initially very pleased with the room when we checked-in but throughout the night, specifically when we returned to the room past 10:30 p.m., and again when I woke up to use the restroom at approximately 2:30 a.m. we constantly encountered cockroaches. I informed the front desk in the morning and was told that “this is not normal” and that the issue would be “taken care of.” However, there was NO clear explanation of what action was taken, no follow-up, and no acknowledgment at checkout.
2. Beach Safety & Wildlife Communication
While snorkeling near the resort, we encountered a large reef shark at a distance. I now understand reef sharks are generally harmless, but I wish someone had informed and educated us - we asked the front desk about where to snorkel and they instructed us right in front of the hotel was safe to do so. Honestly, this was quite a frightening experience for myself and my partner and I just wish we had been informed.
I am also concerned that there were no active lifeguards present at a beachfront property where guests are clearly encouraged to swim and snorkel. Anyways, glad we survived.
3. Service Warmth & Consistency
While many staff members were polite, several interactions felt noticeably cold or disengaged. I have stayed at multiple Four Seasons properties globally, and the warmth, attentiveness, and intuitive service I usually associate with the brand were inconsistent here. For one we requested a bellman to assist with our luggage upon checkout (15 minutes to our departure), yet NOBODY showed up. We later confirmed that the request had indeed been logged. While we were ultimately able to make it to the lobby, and airport on time, this was a basic service expectation at a luxury property and contributed further to the overall sense of service inconsistency.
Given that this property is among the most highly priced Four Seasons resorts, I expected the service to be exceptional.
That said, I would like to acknowledge the positives: the room design was excellent, the natural environment is stunning, the snorkeling near the reef was remarkable, sustainability efforts (such as refillable water bottles) were appreciated, and the property’s history and overall setting are truly special.
My intention in writing is to provide candid feedback hoping issues related to sanitation (especially cockroaches), safety communication, and service recovery are critical and should be addressed at a leadership level.
