Aulani is undoubtedly a beautiful, high-quality resort. The architecture, the attention to detail in the Hawaiian storytelling, and the sheer volume of activities for children are all genuinely five-star. The pools are fantastic, the Ko Olina lagoon is stunning, and the Disney service is as warm and attentive as you'd expect. It’s a truly magical place for a family vacation.
The one-star deduction, however, comes down to the value proposition. For a resort priced at this premium tier, it's surprising how many core activities and amenities come with an extra charge. Everything from the Character Breakfast to the popular Luau and even simple things like a daily parking fee quickly add up, making the overall vacation cost significantly higher than the already-steep room rate.
If budget isn't an issue, this is a perfect destination. But for many, the high price sets a standard that the included offerings don't quite meet. It’s a wonderful resort, but be prepared for a constant stream of add-on costs.

I just checked into Aulani today. So far, not the best impression. The check in was easy and fast over an app. Once I arrived from a different hotel, I couldn't leave the car in the check in area why we took our luggage to the room. I was advised to park in the guest parking which would be free for 30 minutes. We were fast and was charged $15 after being told it was free. The vallet parking attendant was rude and could care less because I wasn't using his service. I got to the room and they gave me the wrong room. We dropped off our stuff and I went down and asked. The front advised me that I got the amount of beds I asked for. I selected a King bed room with a couch. Not 2 queen beds. I didn't care the couch folded out into a bed. They were going to move me but I wouldn't have the ocean view I paid for. I also paid more for the bigger bed. The front desk tried but no resolution. They stick you with whatever they feel like and not what you pay for. The grounds and view is beautiful. No supplies in the room. No cups, bowls, utensils. I might have had that in the room I paid more for. They seriously need to quit taking advantage of people. I stayed in ever hotel except Four Seasons in Ko Olina. Probably won't be back here. Big disappointment how they operate.

We visited Aulani for my daughter's 2nd birthday. We made reservations for the character breakfast at Makahiki to celebrate. The food was delicious but everything else was very sub par. I already filled out the survey but thought it was weird there was no "cleanliness" section on the survey. I have a concern regarding the cleanliness and safety of the facility, specifically the women's bathroom by the photo pass stand on ground level. There was diarrhea leading up to the bathroom door and into the bathroom... the bathroom remained open while a staff member was cleaning it up with just a powder. Just questioning how sanitary this whole process is and how the rest of the facility is cleaned..

We paid for a two bedroom suite with an adjoining kitchen for our family last year to celebrate our grandson’s first birthday. Despite making reservations for the character breakfast in the morning, they could not find our reservation and we’re not gonna let us in! My son-in-law had to tip the hostess Before she would give us a seat. Way overpriced for the food you get. This year we returned for his second birthday, but we did not get a room. when we arrived, there were only two tables that had people sitting at in the restaurant. The same hostess from the year before, an older woman refused to seat us and said “well you don’t have reservations” and we told her the restaurant is empty and she said yeah, but we had a line at 7:45 AM. Which made no sense to us since it was 11 AM and no one was there. She alluded to the fact that we needed to pay her money which we refused to do.! My daughter asked if her son could at least get a photo with Mickey and she said NO!!! She was an older local woman very rude. My son-in-law is a local and Hawaiian. This local woman was condescending to him! We will never ever ever ever go back to this hotel again
