We have stayed here a few times and each time has always been a great experience! It’s a good walking distance from a lot of shops & the beach. The rooms are clean and housekeeping always does a good job. The shower is the only thing I don’t really like, but it’s a personal preference. The front desk staff, evening and daytime were always so helpful and polite! Big thanks to Rosie, Chris, Gladys, Bea, and the rest of the team that made our stay pleasant!

Stellar customer service. Everyone was so helpful, friendly and kind -- the person who took our reservation, the person who checked us in, the cleaning lady, the breakfast staff, etc.
We needed a labor-intensive accommodation for someone in our party with special needs, and a manager named David and his maintenance team made it happen. Thank you!!!
We chose this central Waikiki hotel because it has the fewest noise complaints. I'm relieved that we were able to enjoy uninterrupted sleep for all six nights of our visit.
The bedding was so clean and comfortable. The room and bathroom were a bit small, but they were clean and had everything we needed. Through one window we could see Diamond Head and the ocean, and from another window we had a pleasant view of a canal and mountains.
At the breakfast buffet, they had plenty for us vegans: soy milk, oatmeal, walnuts, cranberries, bananas, oranges, hot white rice, fresh (not frozen) mixed vegetables and "super greens" salad. I can't wait to return!
We will definitely be staying here again and recommend Holiday Inn Express Waikiki to others.
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Waikiki and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing.
The biggest issue was the elevators. The wait times were unacceptable — up to 20 minutes just to get on an elevator. It made coming and going a frustrating experience throughout our stay.
The hot tub was another letdown. It was only lukewarm, not hot at all, which defeats the purpose of having one. The rooms are also very small. While I understand space can be limited in Waikiki, combined with everything else, it did not feel like a good value.
Breakfast was the only positive — it was actually good with a decent variety of options.
What truly made this stay unacceptable, however, was the treatment we received from security. We politely asked a security guard why employees were allowed to smoke in an area that guests were told we could not smoke in. Instead of a professional explanation, she became confrontational. She got into my personal space, blocked me from walking past her, and demanded that I delete a photo of her. Her behavior was aggressive and completely inappropriate.
No guest should be treated that way for asking a reasonable question.
Because of this experience, I will not be returning to this hotel. I am requesting that a manager contact me immediately regarding this matter.

Worst holiday inn experience I’ve had in 11 years. Tiny rooms, slow drains in the shower, cold water to hot water back to cold water in the shower without touching the knob, bathroom door does not shut all the way (outside wall not straight up and down on the 11th floor 😳) parking situation is $$ and no spots, elevators sagging when you enter an inch or more (trip hazard), 3 elevators for 24 floors so wait times can exceed 5+ minutes (took the stairs multiple times) parking spots are reserved even though they don’t say anywhere around, windows so dirty hard to take any pictures of the view, I stay at Holiday Inn roughly 50-100 nights a year, I will not book this one again.
Basic clean room, pretty basic warm breakfast, decent location
The only thing is that I think that they either deduct food from employees homes or decrease their pay every time someone goes to breakfast
I had to run an errand in the morning so I grabbed quick toast at 930 was gona come back later in hour for full breakfast, the lady that was at buffet security entrance was very adamant about no more food for me lol, "just coffee is ok" , what the hell ? I thought this was an open breakfast, if it is one time entry please specify that and dont cause unnecessary drama, maybe she flocked by hotel managment if people eat an extra plate I dont know.. one of the dumbest experiences I have ever head.
