this is not HILTON standards. Very noisy place. Paid for an ocean view with a balcony. They put us in a room next to the old loud elevator, the noise was terrible, I complained but the solution the had for us was to down grade to a city view and you can tell from the reception person that she dealt with a lots of complaints like ours in the past, they know the issue exists just a question of who the victim will be and who to make their stay miserable.
Still not bad hotel just avoid rooms 23 and 21or 19
Plus they charge 35 US dollars for pretty much two bottles of water a day and wifi which I think is a rip off.

The staff were friendly and greeted us when we arrived but we left the hotel after 2 out of a 5 day stay. The room was dated and not clean. The toilet seat was falling off, some sort of residue splattered on the bathroom wall, the sliding door was broken, stained carpet, musty smell coming from the AC.I could feel the springs from the mattress which made sleeping difficult. It was overall a bad experience and not what I expected for the price and it being part of the Hilton family. Very disappointing.
*Buyer beware* Standard rooms at this hotel used to run on average, $500/night. It looks to average about $200/night these days…huge telltale sign of ‘you get what you pay for’. I got married here 10 years ago and boy has this place gone down the drain. It breaks my heart-I was looking forward to coming back and enjoying the same chic, clean place it once was. My room has not been maintained whatsoever. The lampshades are busted and stained, as well as the carpet. I am certain the surfaces have not been cleaned as there are stains on the bedside table, console, and bathroom floor. The remote for the tv is so sticky, I’m not sure if it’s dirty or if it’s so old that the plastic has deteriorated. There was a decent amount of hair in the sink and I was disappointed to find Lather products are no longer offered as bath amenities.
Aside from the poorly maintained room, The Study no longer exists as a bar. The cute gift shop on level 1 is no longer there. I haven’t ventured to the second floor but can only assume the spa no longer exists. I have a view of both pools from my room and the sunset pool has just gone by the wayside. It is no longer the oasis is once was. All the trees that once provided a barrier to the surrounding buildings have been cut.
I typically stay at Marriott or IHG properties and was hoping to work Hilton into the mix as I travel weekly for work. After this experience, I will not stay at a Hilton property again if this is the standard. Extremely disappointed as I was looking to return to this property for future anniversaries.

We were sold a package by the marketing team with the promise of a king size bed in a suite. We were given 2 full beds... my wife and I are larger people which made the stay fairly uncomfortable and it was not actually a suite, it had a microwave on a desk and the view out the window was a rooftop full of giant trash bags not to mention we had to contact maintenance 3 times for power, AC and plumbing issues with the room. We brought the issue of the suite and beds up day 1, they promised they would reach out and do what they can. 2 days later at the Hilton grand vacation, vacation club presentation they lied to our faces telling us they had called and gotten into contact with the GM and would make it right... well after that 2 days, the last day we would be staying, I talked to the higher ups at the Modern and after they contacted the GM and assistant GM they confirmed that no one had gotten a hold of them about the situation. There was no trying to make it right, just a lot of lies.
By the way, the hotel power was down for a full day and there was nothing they did for the customers to even offset it.
This was our first time to Hawaii and it was supposed to be something special and magical and this place and the people involved ended up causing strife and discontent between my wife and I and frustration for our child. They took our money, offered up one of the worst stays I've ever had anywhere and shirked the customer experience.
Do not stay here and escalate issues hard when dealing with Hilton.
Before arriving here, I had read some of the reviews other people wrote. As a result, I actually called my travel agency and tried to change hotels- but this Hilton wanted to charge me $1000 to cancel... so here I am, a hostage in the Hilton for a week. Unfortunately, the negative reviews of this hotel are spot-on accurate. Where do I start? First and foremost, the building is a labyrinthian maze. The lobby is small and unsuspecting. There is absolutely zero sense of luxury or modernity. The 'hotel' aspect of the building feels like an afterthought, as if the building was originally condos, and was hastily converted into a hotel. Let me be very clear- you will not be getting the usual sense of being in a hotel you stay here. Moving upstairs, the hallways are dimly lit- so much so that I might even consider it a safety hazard for lone women. Swiping my key, I was greeted with a dilapidated room, replete with stains on the walls and lamps, rips in sheets, college dorm tier light fixtures, and an absolutely ancient TV, with cable service that was 'modern' in 2004. The Wi-Fi isn't any better, and is speed limited and extremely flaky, completely slowing to a halt intermittently. I am here for business (but spending a few days using my own hard-earned money), and will be badly hindered because of this. Moreover, the lack of even a basic laundry facility worsens the inconvenience. lThe room also has an unbelievably poorly designed wooden 'shade' wall that blocks what little of a partial ocean view I was supposed to get. The placement of this shade is completely bewildering to me. All of the light fixtures are outdated, and use tacky controls on the cords, which were sticky, and made it feel like a college dorm room. The bathroom is no better, with a broken faucet and toilet which sticks running. The bed is very low to the ground, practically on the floor, which is very tacky feeling. The alarm on the nightstand went off automatically at 6am, which was not appreciated. Location wise, this hotel is poorly positioned, and requires a 25 minute walk to reach the main strip of Waikiki Beach. After noticing all of the above, and reluctantly sitting down to exhale a sigh of disappointment, I noticed the final problem - the elevator noise. The elevators are hideously, unbelievably loud. Even 5 rooms down the hall you hear them. I am not exaggerating- you will hear it constantly. If the other things weren't enough, this alone is an experience ruining problem. To make things worse, the shape of the building causes the wind to produce a rattling noise as it blows across the balconies- yet another bothersome noise. With the sole exception of the staff, who were very kind, extremely welcoming, and very helpful, I am otherwise deeply disappointed in the entire experience. If this is how 'modern' is supposed to feel, call me a luddite.
