I wasn’t sure what to expect but it really frightened me at first with how dark and spooky and real everything felt !! I brought my nan who can be unsteady on her feet so I felt panicked at first I had made a mistake and it may have been too much but genuinely it was so comical apart from the jump scares ,I may have screamed my head off but it really was a one off experience for both me and my nan and we both laugh looking back and really enjoyed it . I think it’s incredibly good value for money and the actors are incredible along with the rooms and props and just all of it .

We visited the York Dungeon with a group of friends and had a blast! The actors are absolutely brilliant and really know how to keep everyone on their toes. It’s a great mix of dark history, jump scares, and laughs. 🏰💀
The only downside was that the tour group felt a bit too large, which made some areas feel a little cramped, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. The storytelling and sets are top-notch.
Highly recommend it if you’re in York—just be prepared to find out who in your group is the biggest 'scaredy-cat'! 😂 Definitely worth it for the memories (and the hilarious photos at the end)."

A fun hour at York Dungeons with interactive and participatory short historical plays, depicting York’s history.
We had quite a small group so some of us were selected for participation multiple times (don’t stand near the front if you don’t want to play along)!
Well thought out and fun, so long as you’re prepared to play along.
Does get very loud and possibly overwhelming for younger kids or the neurodiverse.
No pics inside, but a solid 4-star attraction.
Wow...what a great and immersive experience at York dungeon. We pre-booked tickets and got in straight away. Only a short wait inside before the show began and what a show indeed. We travelled through different periods of time and learned along the way while having a laugh also. The show really keeps you on edge and was just brilliantly performed by the dungeon staff. A total must experience during a visit to York. 10/10
I've visited attractions in both London and York, and I found the one in London a little scarier than the experience I had in York. However, what really stood out was the exceptional customer service at The York Dungeon.
My son had sprained his ankle while playing football the night before, so he needed to use a wheelchair throughout the experience. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable, and everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful.
The actors were fantastic and really brought the experience to life. The only minor downside was that some of the smells used throughout the attraction were quite strong, but that is part of creating the atmosphere.
Overall, we had a great experience, and I would highly recommend a visit. The combination of excellent staff, talented actors, and immersive storytelling made it a memorable day out.
