  They ran out of dental kits and couldn’t provide it over the weekend. It was very disappointing that a hotel chain as famous as holiday inn “ran out” of amenities during the weekend. They also don’t provide a welcome water bottle in your room which is disappointing as water is a basic requirement so do take your own water bottles if you don’t want to pay for it at the hotel. 10 minutes walk from clifford tower, good location. The rooms are nice and quiet and it is air conditioned

  Pretty good location with major sites within walking distance. Room and breakfast were within standard. Just one lift resulting in long queue at checkin time. House keeping service was terrible. No cleanup for the first day. Front desk argued that’s because no hanger on door requesting cleanup, which is absolutely different with any other hotel. What’s even more funny was on the checkout day, I was granted late checkout. Hanger requesting privacy was put on door. However, when I got back before checkout time, there was already somebody in room nearly finished cleanup work.

  Pathetic customer service. Tried calling the hotel multiple times to change date of reservation, the central line kept on redirecting to hotel but no response for 24hours+, no one picks up the call or gets back even to guest services Seems the hotel staff is disinterested in anything to do with 'servicing and catering' guests

  I would not recommend staying at this hotel. Don’t expect much help from the reception staff - they were unhelpful and made what should have been an enjoyable holiday unnecessarily stressful. The rooms are odd, the lift is tiny and slow, hair dryer is like older than grandpa, shower room water blocked, and the breakfast offers very limited choices. Overall, the poor customer service completely overshadowed the stay. There are much better hotels in York that offer a far more pleasant experience.

  Do not pay for a breakfast if you have coeliac disease and diabetes. I was cross contaminated, they did not cook it separately and showed me to the buffet (coeliac nightmare.) There was no back bacon. I was shown to the meat, cheese and cereal area and told I could have ham. Then the waitress said they couldn’t guarantee the ham was gluten free (then why show me to it?) I ended up eating scrambled eggs, mushrooms and beans from the buffet. Now my anxiety is through the roof, that I am going to soil myself, while sight seeing in York. It’s ruined my whole day.
