  Staff are professional and friendly. The range of food on offer at breakfast is incredibly, for example instance I really enjoyed the passion fruit and orange smoothie. The restaurant manager was very helpful in seating me somewhere suitable for eating alone. My only criticism is that Guest Service information is available on the in room tv, but the instructions on how to access the WiFi are incorrect. This was quickly solved by a phone call to reception but this needs to be joined up. I would definitely stay there again if I was in that area. The location is on an industrial estate, but there is a pleasant area to walk and at the weekend it was quiet. Signing and transport links are great.

  The hotel as a hotel is alright but the spa experience drags it down significantly. Rooms were great, comfy and clean. We got chocolate truffles which was part of the package but this was a joke - 5 tiny sad looking piece of something. Just remove this so that you don't get negative reviews - you set expectations high but you massively disappoint. The breakfast was good too, buffet style, you have what you need so no issues there. Now, the spa. What a disaster. Tremendously overcrowded. We went in at 3pm, there was not enough sunbeds for all guests. To make matters worse there wasn't even enough chairs for us. Ridiculous! Lots of screaming children in the place. Disrespectful people sitting and chilling in the middle of the swimming pool. The sauna and the steam room overcrowded too. The treatment that we got was problematic too. Couples massage and they separated us to different rooms despite there was a free bed in the room I was taken. Like seriously? The massage itself was fine although I would have liked it to be more firm which I mentioned a few times ... All in all, don't go to this hotel, and the spa avoid at all cost. Absolutely not worth it.

  Location and entrance to the hotel is great. It was very easy to find by car, and the train station is a clearly signed 3 minute walk. Staff were excellent and professional, the rooms were very comfortable but could do with more hooks (only one in the bathroom, and one in the bedroom). The plug in the bath didn't keep the water in so a bath was impossible. But the black out curtains and lack of noise from other guests meant a great night's sleep. I found the mattress not that firm, but it was good for me. Minor gripes: only one glass in the twin room; three teabags (so only one of us could have two cups of tea in the morning); not enough milk - all resolved quickly once mentioned to hotel reception staff. The restaurant was lovely, great food and service. Breakfast was fantastic with cooked, continental, cereals, bagels, toast, in a help yourself buffet. Plus options for prepared breakfast - I had french toast with maple syrup. The toilets on the ground floor (for the bar/restaurant) were hard to flush and it seemed most people gave up trying, as the first five/six stalls had "remnants" in the bowl. The swimming pool was a nice size and temperature. Everywhere looked clean, but the smell in the steam room felt like someone had recently urinated making it unbearable. We told reception on our way out and the next day the steam room had a lovely smell of essential oils. The number of people in the pool area on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning meant the 15 poolside lounger were all taken, leaving the other guests to make use of the stackable chairs at the side. They all cleared out around Sunday lunchtime though so I'm glad we made the decision to leave the hotel late afternoon, meaning we got the pool to ourselves at one point. I had a facial and a massage. If you are having spa treatments, you need to buy the treatment then phone up to book the day/time. I didn't do this far enough in advance (two or three weeks beforehand) to be able to choose time slots so I recommend planning further in advance. The treatment rooms were very small, but once you were having the treatment, it didn't matter. The therapists were excellent, knowledgeable, respectful, creating a lovely environment.

  Birthday Afternoon Tea Celebration 🎂🩷 I decided to surprise my wife with afternoon tea for her birthday, and I can honestly say I did not regret it. I would highly recommend this experience, as my wife is still talking about it! From the moment we walked into the hotel, we were warmly welcomed by the very friendly reception team, Melwin and Eric, who wished my wife a happy birthday and kindly escorted us to the restaurant. At the restaurant, we were greeted by the lovely Liz, who made sure our table was beautifully presented with a special birthday plate and made us feel incredibly welcome. 🩷 We were looked after by Alfie and Nirmal, two wonderful gentlemen who went above and beyond throughout our visit. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They made sure our tea was always topped up and that everything was perfect for us. The General Manager, Elmarie, also took the time to come and say hello and wish my wife a happy birthday, which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. The hotel is stunning, with a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere throughout. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, and every member of staff we met was professional, friendly and welcoming. We honestly could not have asked for a better birthday celebration. A huge thank you to Melwin, Eric, Liz, Alfie, Nirmal, Elmarie and the whole team for making my wife's birthday so special and creating such a memorable experience for both of us. We will definitely be back! ❤️

  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crowne Plaza Reading by IHG My stay at the Crowne Plaza Reading and have had a very pleasant experience overall. The hotel feels clean, modern and fresh, with what appears to be recently refreshed décor. The public areas are well maintained, and the overall atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. My room has been clean and comfortable, making it a good place to relax during my stay. The staff have also been friendly, attentive and helpful. I also visited Monty’s Bar Lounge & Terrace, located within the hotel, for drinks and dinner. I really enjoyed the modern atmosphere, and the service was attentive and welcoming. The food was enjoyable too, which added positively to my stay. The main area that prevented me from giving 5 stars was breakfast. There was a reasonable selection available, including cooked breakfast items, pastries, cereals, yoghurt, fruit and drinks. I also appreciated that there were gluten-free and vegan options, which is definitely a positive. However, for a hotel of this standard, I felt the choice and quality could be improved. I would have liked to see a wider variety of fresh and more exotic fruits, such as pineapple, passion fruit, mango and kiwi, as well as a better selection of quality breads, particularly sourdough. Some of the breakfast items could also have been of a higher quality. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed my stay and would have liked to give 5 stars, as the hotel itself is modern, clean and comfortable and the service has been good. However, the breakfast choice and quality were the main areas that let the experience down for me, so 4 stars feels like a fair reflection of my stay. With some improvements to the breakfast offering, I think this could easily be a 5-star experience.
