Immerse yourself in over 1100 years of jaw-dropping history. A Grade I listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument, Warwick Castle has played a prominent role in history for over 11 centuries.
Visitors can climb the medieval Towers and Battlements, GET LOST in the World’s only Horrible Histories maze and get up close to the impressive Birds of Prey at the Falconer's Quest show.
Good day out and I've been to lots of castles having grown up in North Wales. The castle itself is decent but the extra shows and demonstrations set it apart (trebuchet demonstration of and viking raiders show). Having to pay to park somewhere like that with no realistic other option is a bit of a mickey-take in my opinion though when it isn't cheap to enter. Also, it's a long walk (15-20 mins) from the car park to the entrance so you either have a long trek for your picnic, carry one with you all day, or pay for an expensive & mediocre lunch (£6 for a pre-packed egg sandwich, £9 for a jacket potato with tuna). Provision of free water refills is a positive though if you take your own bottle.

My wife and i didn't book ahead and paid a hefty £39.00 each entrance fee. The difference in price from a ticket at the gate to a pre booked ticket seems excessive. Nevertheless, we paid and entered. The falcon show was excellent, the grounds are well kept but all in all I am not sure that we felt we got value for our £78.00 (plus the £7.50 fee to park). In comparison to say somewhere like Stirling Castle the displays in Warwick are a bit of a mish mash of all sorts of medieval period items and not necessarily associated with the history of the castle itself (some gaudy mannequins of Henry 8th and his wives! A bust of Ceasar!!). There is a particularly heavy focus on kids with the dragon themed displays etc which is fine as it is touted as a family friendly destination but the associated commercialisation inside the castle seems over the top. Endless popup shops selling grossly overpriced merchandise targeted at children..I would hate to be a parent with 2 or 3 kids. Call me a miserable old thing but IMHO Warwick is a mediocre attraction and simply not worth the admission price if you buy a ticket at the gate.

Warwick is always a great place to visit, steeped in history it always feels like tou go back in history. Plenty to do and see either walking through the castle or in the grounds, the live shows are amazing, the falcon quest is the best bird show you will ever see and we go back to Warwick just for that. Honestly the falconers don't get enough praise they do an amazing job. Also the viking show or as last time war of the roses is just amazing all the actors need massive praise especially preforming for all to enjoy on the hottest of days. Highly recommend Warwick it's a must go to place, we try to visit as often as we can and always love going.

Went on a magical day to Warwick Castle and we had an amazing time collecting stamps, going through the maze oh Horrible Histories, collecting more stamps, the new playground for toddlers and young children. We also went to Guy’s tower, it was a steep climb up but the coming down was a bit more difficult as the stairs are spiraling down and you could either get dizzy or get claustrophobic as its steep and narrow. So would not recommend to anyone who has knee problems or any of the above. The Peacocks were a marvel to look at and they were roaming around freely 🦚
Sadly had to cut the trip short as the little one was not well but if you have a Merlin Entertainment Pass, you can go anytime depending on your membership. You also get discounts in food and gift shop with the pass.
The one bit we struggled with is the 20 min walk towards the Castle 🏰 from the car park and if you want to wait for the bus shuttle it could take upto 15 mins for one to arrive. And when you have little kids they hate waiting around. Parents should Bring their kids buggies, strollers, warm clothes (depending on weather), waterproof jackets, comfy shoes, water, snacks and first aid kit (plasters, antiseptic cream, bandage, etc) in case young children fall down on uneven surfaces.
We had plenty of refreshments for the little one with us but as a tradition we don’t mind spending money on good food on site so we bought stone baked pizza, mini donuts, coffee, soft drinks and all the good stuff 😂
Hope someone finds this useful.

We visited on a Sunday. Opens at 10 and closes at 4. We booked our family tickets on line which is cheaper than at the door.
We parked in the Fields car park which is about 15 min walk to the entrance. There is also a shuttle bus service next to the toilets if you don't fancy a walk up the slight hill.
First bit we saw was the Zog Zone with a small kids playground and a maze. Both felt a bit overcrowded due to how busy it was. Recommend that you bypass this and do this towards the end of the day when it is quieter.
We watched the Falconer's Quest show which is located close to the fish and chips shack and the Trebuchet. Kids liked the bird show better. We sat on the grass but there are benches available. We also had fish and chips while watching the show.
My 10 year old paid £7 to do the Archery which I thought was a bit pricey to fire 8 arrows but he enjoyed it.
The peacock gardens were nice to look at.
The castle is not as big as I thought however we did walk the 500 steps around the castle towers. The steps are narrow and it is a one way system so once you start you will have to walk all the steps to exit. My advice is not to do it if you are cloister phobic. It can be dark in places and crowded and lots and lots of steps either going up or down.
There are the usual gift shops and plenty of outdoor seating and space to have picnics.
Also a few different food shacks. All of these can be pricey though.
I would recommend a visit as it is a nice place and the views from the towers are good. We spent the whole day there.
Highly recommend that you pay for parking at the kiosk near the entrance as when you leave, the cameras will know that you have paid and the barrier will automatically let you out. You can pay at the barrier too but it's a slightly slower process.
Warwick Castle is open daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
