Booked to stay a night just a couple of days ago. The room was average but the main thing to really drive home my feelings on our stay, was just how unbearable the room was. Being on the 6th floor, with no air conditioning and no means to create air flow (window opened to around 10cm wide for security). I did not have a thermometer to confirm this but I would say the temperature reached no less than 45 degrees C in the room. When we first opened the door it felt like we were stepping off the plane to Dubai! They had already placed 2 table top fans so they clearly recognised how unsuitable the room was for booking out, but all the fans did move the hot air about. I can honestly say we (me and my family) have never had a worse nights sleep. Be very aware when booking with them if the weather is warm. Confirm how high up your room will be and if they will give you a room with AC (the man in reception said they have a few). The staff just shrugged when we raised it and said this only became an issue this year with extreme heat.

What can I say, other than avoid this hotel at all costs. Room was so bad we left and have waited nearly 3 weeks for the refund. The manager was dreadful. Not returning phone calls and ZERO customer service skills. We definitely wont be using Holiday Inn again.

We would not recommend this hotel, especially for families with young children or elderly guests, during warm weather. The biggest issue is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. A fan is provided, but it made very little difference. The room felt like a sauna, and I developed a headache after only a few minutes. The window could only be opened a small crack, so even the cooler evening air couldn’t circulate into the room. As a result, our family hardly slept at all. Although the room was clean, it looked very tired and in need of refurbishment. There were no power sockets near the beds and no USB charging ports anywhere in the room, which felt very outdated for a modern hotel. I also noticed an additional electric heater stored under the table, which made me wonder how cold the room must get during winter. The only parts of our stay that met expectations were the breakfast, which had a good selection, and the restaurant, which thankfully was air-conditioned. If you’re travelling in summer or during a heatwave, I would strongly recommend booking somewhere with proper air conditioning instead.

The hotel is very old and in very poor condition. The room and hallway are also very old. The room is extremely hot. The air conditioning does not work at all, but the room was advertised as an air-conditioned room. The fridge also does not work. The controls have been removed, so we cannot even keep our drinks cold. I already spoke to reception. They could only give us two fans. The window cannot be opened either. I paid £109 for this room because it was advertised as having air conditioning. I do not understand why I should pay £109 for an air-conditioned room when the air conditioning does not work at all. I will provide photos as evidence.

Advertised as air conditioned so booked and paid in advance for a last minute overnight stay. Parking was a nightmare, air con was broken. Had a really warm welcome from the staff on the desk and check in was easy. The room was clean but a little grubby and worn, staibs on the carpets and marks on the walls, bed reasonably comfortable but all the duvets had been removed due to the heatwave. Had to have the window open next to the main roundabout in the town and a fan on all night so got very little sleep, then to add insult to injury, housekeeping banged on the door at 8.30am despite an 11am check out time and woke me up again. I got up to have a shower ... I've stayed in lots of Holiday Inns over the years and I can categorically state this was the worst bathroom shower I have ever encountered. Haven't you heard of mould spray or scrubbing brushes? I decided not to bother and wet my hair under the tap. I darent even imagine what was on the handle of the hairdryer!!! When I reported this to the front desk on check out the response I got was "I've worked here years and I know how bad it is". Truly disgusting
