  Treat from my husband for my birthday stayed 2 night lovely big room, breakfast was lovely, location good caught the bus into cardiff.

  We have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions and have always found the reception staff to be welcoming and always friendly. Ensure you sign your car in when you register at reception. The hotel is clean and relatively quiet. The bar area is a nice touch, where drinks are served for a good period of time during the day, although staff at certain times are few and waiting to be served can be long. The rooms have all that you need, but bathroom toiletries are minimal, especially soap or shampoo, so ensure you take enough. Both my wife and I find the pillows to be a little too hard for our liking, but maybe suitable to others. Breakfast is good and plentiful, from cereals, fully cooked or continental, with fruit drinks, tea and coffee. This hotel is well located and linked for the centre of Cardiff and, reasonably priced.

  We popped over the bridge to visit the beautiful hotel and try their Sunday roast platter - and wow what a gorgeous lil set up! Here’s what we tried: - Vegan Kofte and Flatbread - Crispy Whitebait - Sharing Roast Board for two - Almond Frangipane tart - Chocolate Orange tart Starters were tasty and freshly cooked, nice and crispy in all the right places, but the real star of the show is that board!! A full roast with allll the trimmings, we tucked into chicken and stuffing, beef medallions, crispy roasties, honey-glazed carrots and parsnips, yorkies, pigs in blankets, cranberry stuffing, seasonal veg and a big heaping of cauli cheese. Everything was excellently cooked. The beef super tender, the veg cooked but neither too crunchy or too soggy and the cheese insanely thick and cheesy, with a nicely roasted cauliflower underneath - no mush here!!! Also a HUGE shoutout to the almond frangipane tart. Excellently cooked with a crispy edge and a gooey middle, this was unexpectedly gorgeous and prompted a two-hour conversation/argument about whether a Bakewell tart or a tiramisu would win in a fight… Overall a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The view over the lake was moody but gorgeous, and had such a serene vibe I felt like I’d entered another universe Definitely one to try if you have a big appetite and are looking for something a little special for your Sunday!
