Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We booked a two-night stay starting today, and the receptionist’s attitude was neither welcoming nor professional at all.
We also purchased a bidet spray and simply requested assistance with installing it, but the request was refused without any cooperation. What made this more frustrating is that we stayed at the same hotel last year and the staff gladly helped us with the exact same request.
We expected much better customer service and hospitality, especially from the reception staff who represent the hotel. I hope management works on improving both the attitude and overall guest experience.
Room No. 606
Lets just but this review into perspective, the Millennium hotel is a decent hotel. Its perfectly situated for any tourist visit, and boasts easy walks to iconic parks and monuments, as well as well as being seconds away from Gloucester Road tube station.
I'm a business user who uses hotels on a weekly basis, so what follows is really a list of petty proclivities that are, I concede, very much from a personal point of view. You're not going to find anything inherently wrong with the Hotel or anyone who works there.
The rooms are clean, but perhaps just a little dated. I accept it's trivial, but I'm not a huge fan of using the room card to turn the lights on in my room. Only because with my memory being as it is, I inevitably forget to take it with me when I leave.
I also get that its very much a first world problem, but the room cleaning system takes more attention than I care to give when I'm working away. There's a choice of 3 cards to hang on your door by 0800, and, if I'm absolutely honest, none of them seem to have any bearing on how my room was cleaned. My bed was always made and bins emptied, but they didn't always change my used coffee mugs, or bring them back when they did.
The food is excellent, and the junior waiting staff delightful, attentive and super helpful. As are the concierge staff. The grey suited manager, less so when under the pressure of a busy restaurant, but is equally amenable in quieter times.
My star ratings reflect the fact that there are more modern hotels in the area at a similar price point. That said, the USP of this hotel is it has available parking. However, whilst it falls inline with the usual tariffs charged in Kensington, at £50 per night for residents, it's not cheap.
The Millennium is a great hotel situated in a very competitive location. If it was in say, Birmingham or Manchester City centre, I'd highly recommend it (and still do) despite it's foilbles; I will happily return to this hotel on a business booking. But, I'd perhaps look at the availability of other more modern hotels if it was coming out of my own pocket.

The hotel is definitely due a refurb. We were upgraded to club on check in, but given the condition of a club room (crack in sink, fabric shower curtain - shiver - bits on the carpet) I can’t imagine what a standard would be like… and i’m surprised breakfast was not included. We had hoped to dine here one evening, but the restaurant no longer exists so it’s just a couple of tables at the bar. We went to Harry’s bar instead! However.. staff on reception were helpful and Peter was excellent. i couldn’t work the coffee machine (incompetence on my part) and he was here in seconds, showed me how to operate it, gave us complementary slippers and toothbrushes and was delightful. Thank you Peter!
Modest cleanliness:
⛔️ hotel room cleanliness is a basic standard, not a luxury, but since we checked in yesterday, crumbs from the previous guest have been left on the floor of the room. Even today, (despite requesting housekeeping service, ) the food crumbs are still there.
The surprise was finding food with a bad smell inside the refrigerator also from the previous guest .. and god knows how long it is been there.. !!
Someone was eventually sent to remove the food and vacuum the room, (which was not appropriate after a long day.)
The treatment was not pleasant, and there was no genuine apology (despite how serious the issue was) It very much felt like: “Be grateful we allowed you to stay in our not-so-clean rooms.”
Other than that, the stay was good, the location is quiet, and the service — when requested repeatedly and practically begged for — is good.
