    You do not want a room that is straight above the restaurants/pubs below. Their music is coming up through the floor. It does not finish until the earliest at midnight. Spoke to the staff basically nothing they can do as they are full. No ear plugs offered. This is not acceptable. When you book a room you want a quiet room in which you can sleep in. I would avoid this hotel if you want a good night sleep before midnight.

    Great hotel except noise from pub below hotel, no soundproofing whatsoever. I was on 2nd floor and it was genuinely booming. In all my years, I've stayed in hotels above pubs/clubs before but nothing as loud as this. On SECOND floor. Such a pity, great hotel otherwise.

    My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn in Sunderland. it is the kind of hotel that instantly makes travel feel easier and more comfortable. Its location in the city center, it sits directly beside Primark and is surrounded by plenty of halal food options, like Pepe’s and Manjaros, so finding something to eat is never a problem. On top of that, the hotel staff were genuinely friendly and attentive made this place one we would happily return to.

    Stopped here while a coach party was being catered for. We couldn't have our meal until they were fed, and also we couldn't go down for breakfast until they left. Would be better allowing half of these people in at a time.

    “Hotel was fine, but absolutely zero wow factor. Didn’t get a WiFi code at check‑in, so I ended up standing at reception for ages while the poor staff member was running between the bar, clearing tables and trying to help me. All that just to get online. Room was ok. Chair was broken, and it never really warmed up properly — the heating seemed fixed to a low setting. Shower was decent but never quite hit the temperature I like. Would I return? Probably not. Location was good for where I needed to be, but that’s about the only standout.”
