Just returned from a 2 night stay, travelled as a family of four (2 adults, 5yr old and 16yr old) and couldn't fault it! On the approach it looks very dated, a bit drab on the outside but inside was very modern, clean and staff on reception were very welcoming. We stayed in what I assume was a family room with a double bed, single bed and chair that turned into bed which was ideal for the 5yr old. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room with a generouse selection including biscuits. The room was clean and staff helpful in providing an extra pillow when requested.
We used the pool which was easy, no issues with having to wait due to being too busy, but it appears there are busier times due to non guests using the pool/gym, we went at around 3.30pm and 6pm and no problems, you are provided with a towel, lockers available but you'll need a £1 or we just put our things on one of the chairs on the edge of the pool. Our booking included breakfast which was a buffet style offering continental and cooked breakfast, similar to the ones that premier inn offer. Lots of choice available for everyone and nothing was left empty for long, the staff refilled items as needed. Car parking was also easy, we just registered the car on arrival, plenty of space. We stayed here to explore Chester and happened to visit at the hottest time! But we still had a fab time, defo walk the walls, very interesting way to take in the sights and explore. Would not hesitate to book here again if needed a budget friendly place to stay.
It is very rare that you stay anywhere in a hotel and cannot find fault with anything and my wife and I have just done this. Room perfect, food exceptional and staff everywhere in the hotel outstanding, a very big thank you for everything and well done to you all. Absolutely loved everything and a very big thank you to Acklams for using this hotel and so close to Chester Zoo our provider, really loved the experience!
I recently stayed at the hotel for work and was extremely impressed with the level of service provided by the staff. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, professional, and accommodating throughout my stay.
In particular, I work night shifts, and after mentioning this to the team, the manager kindly ensured that my room was located at the end of the building away from any noise. This thoughtful gesture made a huge difference and allowed me to have a peaceful and comfortable stay.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the spa and sauna facilities, which were always clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. The bar and housekeeping staff were equally helpful and friendly, contributing to the overall positive experience.
Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so comfortable and enjoyable.
Stopped off on the way to the Lake District to see some friends in nearby Holt.
Very good location, near to the main roads, and a bit of a 'tardis' on the inside. A maze on the inside!
The staff were exemplary - very friendly, helpful people who are a credit to Holiday Inn. (the chap at reception, the ladies at breakfast, the cleaning staff, the fitness centre staff 👌)
Breakfast was excellent imho. A reasonable choice to be had. I managed to get a decent Bed & Breakfast rate for our 2 rooms so it was worth it. Both my sons & son's girlfriend enjoyed their choice.
I used the gym - a decent set of dumbbells only up to 25kg alas, but okay for most people. There's several other machines for legs, chest, adductors, and a multi-workout set-up, plus cardio machines.
I also used the pool & jacuzzi. Again, a decent size if you're travelling.
Overall, a relaxed stay that made our long car journey from Essex to the Lake District vastly more palatable.
