Were not told that the restaurant required advance booking. Very disappointed that we were turned away. This information should have been shated with us at the time of booing, respectively when checking in.
I’ve stayed at many premier inns and they have always been clean and immaculate. This one however was awful. The hotel is so dirty and dusty that you can see the dust on the floors in the hallways, the carpets don’t look like they have seen a hoover for years, the walls are grubby and dirty and we had brown marks on the walls of our room. The paint was peeling in the bathroom with mould on the tiles and it absolutely stunk of smoke in the rooms. The air con wasn’t working and the room was unbearably hot. We found a centipede crawling across our room too! The ceilings were dirty when you entered the rooms, the ducts were visibly filthy. Any attempts at fixing anything had been done poorly too. Very unkempt hotel that would be better knocked down. The electrics were overdue to be tested in April. None of this filled us with any confidence in the hotel. We did ask to change room which we did and it was only mildly better. Still absolutely filthy though! Premier inn needs to refurb this whole hotel and get someone in to give it a good clean. Won’t be staying here ever again!
Really loved our stay here, the place was perfect for a family holiday. Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, place was clean, room with Air con.
Walking distance to the city centre, Tesco express is just downstairs, few restaurants of a walking distance, 10 min drive to Swansea beach. A nice walk along the dock, especially at night as it is well lit. Massive car park so no parking issues.
Thank you for the lovely experience, we are definitely coming back here again.
Location - stunning
Parking price at £6 for 24hr is really good (very big car park as well, so you're almost guaranteed space)
Rooms - standard, if you stayed in a premier inn before
These ones were clean, so no complaints
However, not sure if there were miscommunications between staff, but I asked for my room to be cleaned (stayed for two nights). I even put the sign on the door handle to say it needed to be cleaned, I made sure of it. Upon my return on night 1, it hadnt. We were travelling with a baby too, so a lot of smelly nappies were still in there, lingering. I was so annoyed, and expressed it to the male staff in front. There were two of them at the front desk, and the other was very unsympathetic, interrupted mid conversation between myself and the one I was speaking to, claiming I hadn't put a sign in front (saying i had it on do not disturb, when in fact I didn't). Credit to the one I was speaking to though. Wish I had gotten his name to give the credit, but all I remember was he was wearing a 'dad' pendant around his neck. He apologised with sincerity, and provided us with complimentary breakfast to make up for it.
Perhaps a bit of training is required for the other staff, in how not to annoy new parents, and make false accusations!
Unfortunately, this Premier Inn is very dated and absolutely not worth what you pay to stay here. It is in desperate need of a full refurbishment. The cleanliness is poor, the rooms are tired, and the whole place feels neglected.
We had to move rooms because the entire room had a horrible mouldy urine smell. It wasn’t just the bathroom – the smell had spread throughout the whole room and was absolutely unbearable. As soon as we reported it to reception, we were told the hotel was overbooked, so there were no rooms available to move us into. Instead, they came and sprayed the room and placed an ozone air machine in it, instructing us to leave it running overnight.
During the night, my 5-year-old son, who suffers from asthma, woke up struggling to breathe and wheezing heavily. The following day his asthma flared up even more, and he developed a really chesty cough. I cannot say for certain whether this was caused by the mouldy room or the ozone machine we were instructed to leave running overnight, but it was extremely concerning, especially after we had already reported the condition of the room and were then forced to stay in it because the hotel was overbooked.
To compensate us, they decided to give us a complimentary breakfast. While some people might appreciate that gesture, it was worth around £15–£20 and wasn’t something we were bothered about because we had already planned to have breakfast anyway. What we actually wanted was a clean room that didn’t stink of mouldy urine.
They eventually moved us at around 12 noon the following day. By then, the damage had already been done. We had to pack all of our belongings, wait for another room to become available then move everything to the next room and then unpack again, which made us late for an event we had planned as we had to shower and get the kids ready.
To make matters even worse, the shower in the original room wouldn’t stop running at full blast. I had to report it to reception at around 9:00 am, and they sent their handyman. The only way he could stop it was by turning the water supply off completely, leaving us with no running water at all. We couldn’t use the shower, sink or even flush the toilet, causing even more delays and frustration.
The breakfast wasn’t great either and definitely needs improving.
I will say that some members of staff were brilliant friendly, helpful and genuinely tried to assist us but there were also a couple who were unapproachable and didn’t seem interested.
Overall, this was one of the worst Premier Inn experiences we’ve had. Being forced to spend the night in a room that smelt strongly of mouldy urine because the hotel was overbooked, having our young son suffer an asthma flare-up and develop a chesty cough, dealing with a broken shower that left us without water, and then being moved so late that it disrupted our plans completely is simply unacceptable. We left feeling extremely disappointed, and based on this experience, we would not stay at this Premier Inn again.
