  The premise of alton towers feels better than actual experience because of the queues. Quite often the workers talk among themselves before starting the ride, especially on the children rides, particularly octonauts. Bluey ride was woth the wait and the queue area was also nice, had 3 play areas, including rug island. Nemesis reborn broke during the day, but was repaired somewhat quickly. Quite often there were empty seats on the rides, I was particularly shocked when saw 4 empty spaces: 2 and 2, both next to couples. The capacity utilisation could be much better. The waiting times make the whole experience far more tiring and the maze during the queue does make the experience feel worse. While at first the rides feel rewarding, closer to the end if the day it becomes harder to enjoy. It is much better going with a group of friends who you can talk to all day. Possibly could be playing monopoly in the queues, especially the mobile version. Out of other positives, there's free WiFi that works really well

  Un parque temático precioso, localizado en medio de un frondoso bosque de la localidad de Staffordshire. Tiene un espacio verde enorme para pasear y disfrutar de la naturaleza, que va genial para descansar de las emociones fuertes. En cuanto a las atracciones, el parque lo catalogaría más bien para los amantes de la adrenalina, ya que cuenta con numerosas montañas rusas y atracciones fuertes. Pero si vas en familia, también tienes bastantes opciones como Hex, the Curse of Alton Manor, Runaway Minetrain o las zonas infantiles. El parque está bien cuidado y los empleados son muy amables y se interesan por tu satisfacción durante tu visita. Detalles que mejoraría: -Horario de transporte público más extenso, porque si no tienes vehículo propio es un engorro llegar hasta el parque y tienes muy pocas opciones. -Horario de cierre del parque. Si bien estuvimos entre semana y había poca afluencia, tuvimos que apresurarnos para poder visitar todas las atracciones, ya que el parque cerraba a las 16:00. Se agradecería al menos que en los días de poca afluencia el parque mantuviera abiertas las puertas hasta las 18:00. -Opciones de comida: muy poco variadas y de calidad-precio justa. Por lo demás, un parque temático muy recomendable con atracciones muy sorprendentes e inmersivas.

  I've been to Alton Towers several times over the years. This visit has highlighted some issues. 25th September was the day of visit. Rides not running - Rita the last time I came was closed all day, this time opening at 11:15. Smiler was closed for an hour and had 45-80min times all day. Spinball whizzer closed all day Runaway mine train closed all day Rapids closed all day Nemesis sub terra closed 4 times during the day Monorail closed until after 11am Quoted wait time for Galactica 55 mins ended up being 100+ mins. Battle galleons closed all day These rides being closed increased the wait times for all other rides. I appreciate that safety is important but it does take away from the experience on the day. Something that also caused the issues on Galactica. It was quoted at 55 mins. After 30 mins of queuing the tannoy said it would be 80 mins for the queue and 25 mins for fast passes (whilst queuing it was noticed that the ride was only operating once every 5-8 mins, that certainly didn't help)... The model for fast passes and other users of the park in this case doesn't work, what the answer is who knows. Either way if the rides were all open all the queue times would be lower. Considering so many were closed still charging a standard price should be looked at.

  More of a Chore Than a Charm: A Costly, Exhausting Disappointment. Date of visit: 27 September 2026 Party size: 1 Adult, 2 Teenagers, and a 10-year-old child (under 1.4m)Total Ticket Cost: £149. I visited Alton Towers with two teenagers and my 10-year-old daughter. What was meant to be a fun family day out ended up feeling like a commercial endurance test. For the average family, this park has become a giant "rip-off machine" that prioritises upselling over basic guest experience. 🚫 High Prices, Missing Attractions: We paid £149 for four tickets, only to find that none of the water rides were operating. And mcuh of the childs section had closed early. My 10-year-old daughter had her heart set on these, and she was incredibly upset. There was absolutely no warning on the ticket booking screen that entire sections of the park's lineup would be closed. To make matters worse, several other major rides were completely shut down for the day. ⏱️ The Fastrack Problem & Crippling Queues: Because so many rides were closed, the queues for the remaining attractions were unbearable, averaging 50+ minutes per ride. Alton Towers clearly acknowledges their excessive queue times, but rather than limiting daily guest capacity to keep things sensible, they choose to pile people in. They then expect you to buy Fastrack passes costing up to £95 per person, per day just to bypass the queues they created. Paying nearly £100 extra per person when you aren't even told which rides are broken feels deceitful. The entire Fastrack system completely spoils the atmosphere for regular guests who are left waiting patiently while others cut ahead. 🚶‍♂️ Exhausting Layout & Poor Infrastructure: Be prepared for an immense amount of walking. The experience starts with a 1-kilometre hike just to get from the car park to the main entrance. Once inside, the distances between rides are massive. Despite the miles of walking required, seating areas are incredibly limited. I saw countless exhausted guests sitting directly on the concrete floor, which, given the steep entrance fees, is completely unacceptable. 🎢 What We Actually Managed in 6 Hours: After six hours in the park, our grand total consisted of just four attractions:Two Rollercoasters (marred by long queues) A Ghost Train, and Hex - The Legend of the Towers: This was a massive disappointment and felt like a pure time-waster. You are forced to stand in two separate rooms watching boring videos, only to be led into a slowly spinning vault room with a giant log. Everyone exiting was muttering about what a joke it was. 💸 Relentless Upselling & Price Gouging: The pricing inside the park is pure greed. Ride photos cost a staggering £10 per individual picture. True to Alton Towers’ relentless upsell machine, they graciously offer an "unlimited" digital photo pass for a whopping £30 a day, an absolute joke considering how few rides were actually working to take photos on in the first place. Food was just as bad, costing £8 for just 5 small doughnuts, I declined. ⚠️ Final Verdict for Families: If your children are under 1.4 metres, do not bother coming here. The risk that the handful of rides they can actually ride are broken or not in operation is far too high, and there is very little else for them to do. My advice: If you are wealthy, have no young children, and are willing to pay hundreds of pounds extra to Fastrack your way around the park, go ahead. But for the average family, Alton Towers has become an exhausting, overpriced chore. Save your money and go elsewhere. I would have rated it a 2 out of 5 if I was really being generous, but seeing as there are so many suspicious 5-star reviews here drowning out real experiences, it gets a 1.

  Alton towers holds a special place in my memories but my last few visits have been a disappointment. The management of the park feels inconsistent. The rollercoasters are still up there as some of my favourite anywhere in the world but my overall experience has been poor recently. We arrived at 09:30 on Saturday 19th September it was already busy with cars queueing, with the park not opening till 10:00. We got through the entrance relatively fast. The security and gate staff were great, friendly and efficient. We went straight to wickerman where the queue time displayed was 5 minutes … we waited 45 minutes to board. Because of this and how busy the park felt by 11:00 we (as a group of three) purchased the gold fast track pass through the Alton towers app to make the most of our day. This was an additional £125 each. We then rode the haunted mansion, nemesis and galactica without queueing more than 15 minutes. Those ride attendants scanned our passes on the Alton towers app and let us ride. We then walked across the gardens to Rita and 13. Where we paused for lunch. There was very limited choices so 2 of the group opted for pizza from a van and myself for loaded fries from a van next to it. We both had to wait 15 minutes to order and pay… then had to wait 28 minutes for the food. Wasting almost 45 minutes of our day along with a lot of other frustrated guests and families. Rita was great and we waited 20 minutes with our gold passes. Then 13… we waited 40 minutes in the express pass lane. When we got to the merge point with the main queue the staff member was out of his depth. He had no control over the three queues merging, the baggage area was chaos and he told us we should have gold wrist bands and he shouldn’t be letting us through. He did scan our app and said I’ll let you through but you still require to go to guest services to collect your wrist bands. No one previous to this ride had an issue with just scanning the app. Nor did the purchase through the app indicate we had to collect wrist bands to use the £125 additional pass. After a total of 1 hour waiting for 13 we headed to smiler and oblivion where we were denied entry to fast track until we walked to the front of the park to collect the wrist bands. This needs updating. You have to make clear that buying the passes requires you to collect a band from guest services at time of purchase. Don’t allow your guests to purchases products through the app they can’t use without going to one inconvenient location when you have such a big park. We then waited 40 minutes in the express lane for smiler, 30 minutes for oblivion and 45 for spitball wizzer. £125 for a pass where one is meant to be able to ride multiple rides as many times as we like but could only ride them all once as the queues were still too long. As someone who frequently travels to theme parks around the UK, USA and Europe I can assure you Alton towers has a long way to go to even come close to its competitors which is sad when they have so much potential and this park holds a special place in my heart.
