  Some Good rides, bad accessibility and logistics. Major rides on the other sides of the theme park are so far apart. Also, the sudden closures are genuinely ridiculous. Expected to go to Rita, Wicker Man, Th13teen/13, and Nemesis Reborn as well as Smiler, Oblivion and Galactica. Wait time was either 2 hours + or the ride was completely closed (which was the case for Rita (twice), the and 13. Absolute joke. The only things I rode were Wicker Man (which was absolutely excellent and much better than I expected) and Nemesis Sub terra (which was very underwhelming by the way). I was supposed to ride Rita, 13 and Nemesis Reborn but they were closed multiple times. Was going to ride more but the rides were either closed like aforementioned or the waiting time was too long and the theme park would shut down before then. Also, some of these rides are plain overrated in my opinion. Galactica is nice in its flying mechanics but quite tame (but that may be fine if you like calm coasters). Oblivion has a dramatic drop and that is mostly it. 13 is just not scary at all and not very unique from a generic rollercoster. Would be sure I would like Rita but the thing shut down right before the park was closing and I would have no time to ride it before they would close the theme park and get it fixed so thats a shame. The Smiler would be great too but I didn't even have time. Overall, great potential, poor logistics and subpar accessibility. If you dont mind a hiking trip, go ahead. Dont rely on the skyride to be open, it most likely will not be. Expect major rides to take MINIMUM one hour and a half and dont even be too surprised if you are 5 minutes away from your turn and the ride just closes down. Also, the food and drink can be overpriced (like £3.50 or more for one standard water bottle, £3.60 for one 500ml of coke or fanta) and low quality.

  visited Alton towers with my siblings, we are all adults and all paid for our tickets. However we did not know on arrival that it was ‘school trip season’ and that everything was going to be 70 minutes+ and we barely got any rides done, in fact I managed to go on Wickermann with a fast pass, runaway mine train as it just opened and nemesis with a fast track pass as well, because we came here to go on rides not waiting in queues with so many school children. I am so upset with my time at Alton towers as it’s my sisters first time here (she’s 33!) and it was my brother in laws birthday! I’m so disappointed because we got to go on only 3 rides because of the stupid wait times and the fact that we arrived at 10am to go home at 5pm and only go on 3 rides is disgraceful and a horrible experience. If I could get a refund in any way shape or form I will be grateful as this experience was one I never want to repeat. It’s 32°, the river rapids weren’t on so we were all boiling and incredibly hot which obviously you can’t control the weather but you could’ve put the only water ride, on for the public. I am so disappointed. The tickets were definitely over sold and should have a system in place for this as everyone then has much more a chance of going on what rides they want to rather than having to pay extra for fast passes to get 2 rides. Not happy at all and very upset. Most of the rides closed, including Nemesis when I was queuing up for it, and I was getting on it they then closed the ride, with no reason as to why and we were all just stood there waiting for about 40 minutes

  Firstly and most importantly, I really feel the “ride access pass” is being heavily taken advantage of and being abused. Groups of 4+ is an absolute joke and getting to cut the whole queue is unfair on everyone else…I understand the person requiring this pass having one other person/carer but more than that is abusing the system. This affected both the normal queues and fast track queues. Queue times not accurate - 50 mins for wicker man. Was queueing for 80 mins. Bought bronze fast track for the day, was still only able to use 3 of the 5 rides due to the queues still being long even in fast track. So that was a waste of money. Rides kept closing so planning what ride to go on next kept changing which wasted our time even more. We managed to only do wicker man, nemesis and galactica in 6 hours which is heavily disappointing especially considering we sent £50 each on fast tracks. Went to the rollercoaster restaurant for lunch. £5.50 for a Coke Zero and £19 for a below average burger and chips is daylight robbery. To add insult to wounds, the water ride was shut for maintenance (I think). Really?!!! Peak of summer and you do it now and during a heatwave.

  Alton Towers ist insgesamt ein schöner Freizeitpark mit einer beeindruckenden Größe und viel Natur. Die weitläufigen Grünflächen und die parkähnliche Gestaltung sorgen für eine angenehme Atmosphäre, die sich von vielen anderen Freizeitparks positiv abhebt. Weniger überzeugt hat uns allerdings die Preispolitik. Das Fastpass-System wirkt sehr teuer und vermittelt teilweise den Eindruck, dass man ohne zusätzliche Kosten deutlich längere Wartezeiten in Kauf nehmen muss. Hinzu kamen bei unserem Besuch Wartezeiten von teilweise über 60 Minuten an mehreren Fahrgeschäften. Das war für uns etwas überraschend, da die Parkplätze draussen kaum gefüllt waren.Vor allem die großen Parkflächen waren recht leer, sodass das Besucheraufkommen deutlich geringer sein musste, als die Wartezeiten vermuten ließen. Außerdem sollte man gut zu Fuß sein, da die Wege im Park sehr lang sind. Besonders problematisch war bei unserem Besuch, dass die Seilbahn außer Betrieb war. Dadurch wurden die ohnehin großen Entfernungen noch anstrengender. Enttäuschend war auch, dass mehrere wichtige Fahrgeschäfte entweder wiederholt technische Störungen hatten oder sogar den gesamten Tag geschlossen blieben. Gerade bei einem Freizeitpark dieser Größe und mit entsprechenden Eintrittspreisen erwartet man eine höhere Verfügbarkeit der Hauptattraktionen. Insgesamt hatten wir zwar einen schönen Tag in einer tollen Umgebung, allerdings haben die zusätzlichen Kosten, die langen Wartezeiten sowie die zahlreichen Ausfälle von Attraktionen das Erlebnis deutlich geschmälert. Deshalb fällt unser Fazit eher durchwachsen aus.

  One of the worst days out you can have. Everything in the park is centred around getting you to spend more money. Whilst thats to be expected in 2026, what isnt to be expected is the number of ride closures. Myself and partner got here at 11am, its 2pm the same day and weve been on 1 ride and in 3 queues with ride closures. Every ride has a minimum 45 min wait time and thats if youre lucky enough for the ride to still be running by the time you reach the end of your queue. I dont blame any of the staff. They're under so much pressure for park visitor safety. Who I do blame is Alton towers management. Shocking how many people they let into the park. There should 100% be a limit each day. It isnt hard to implement, especially with their pre booking system. Management are banking on you coming to the Park for the entry fee, paying extra for fast track or deciding to "make a day of it" by buying food or utilising the fairground attractions that could be experienced at your local travelling circus. There's clearly no regulator for park quality (hopefully there is for safety!) Someone needs to step in and prevent overselling of tickets.
