    Overall, we had a good stay at voco Southampton. It is conveniently located next to City Cruise Terminal; it took 10 minutes from hotel checkout to our Royal Caribbean cruise check-in. The rooms are spacious and very nice. There is also plenty of parking on-site, though it costs £20 per night. There are only 2 elevators that are pretty small (450kg / 6 pax maximum each), so it can be difficult to get down to the lobby from your room on check-out day especially if there is a cruise leaving on the day.

    We loved visiting Southampton prior to our cruise. Our stay at Voco was wonderful! Clean rooms, friendly service and excellent breakfast! From Yasmina's friendly help at checking in, Carl's help understanding the AC and Joe's pointers on the area, everyone made our stay feel special and fun! Thanks!

    Lovely, friendly staff and large comfy rooms. Convenient for Westquay restaurants as well as a nice seafood restaurant in house. Only downside is tiny lifts so if you're on a high floor it can take a while to not get one full of people already.

    The hotel looks beautiful online and, to be fair, it isn’t too different in person. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by poor communication and a lack of customer consideration. Despite receiving numerous emails before our stay, none mentioned that a marathon would be taking place on the day we were due to check out. We later discovered that if we didn’t leave the hotel before 8am, we would be unable to leave until around lunchtime. Having had a late evening, we were effectively forced to check out much earlier than planned to avoid being trapped. The irony is that checkout isn’t until 11am, so had we stayed until the official checkout time, what exactly were we expected to do—vacate our room and sit in the lobby until the roads reopened? A simple email advising guests of this significant disruption would have been appreciated. The hotel clearly had ample opportunity to communicate it, given the number of other emails they sent before arrival. In reality, had we been informed in advance, we likely would have chosen to stay elsewhere and we should have been given that option. The hotel also advertises EV charging, but one vehicle occupied a charger for our entire stay without charging, and the only available charger wasn’t working. On the surface, the hotel makes a great impression, but the reality is that there are several operational issues. The staff were dismissive of our concerns and seemed unable to understand why we were frustrated. Overall, disappointing. I don’t imagine I’ll be returning.

    We stayed overnight before embarking on our first cruise for my birthday celebration and had an excellent stay from start to finish. We stayed in Room 709, which had a great view overlooking the City Cruise Terminal (although the windows could do with a clean), making an almost perfect start to our holiday. The room was beautifully decorated and the super king bed was incredibly comfortable. There were thoughtful touches throughout, including bottled water, tea and coffee facilities, along with full-size White Vetiver bathroom products which added a real touch of luxury to the stay. As a lovely birthday surprise, a beautiful dish of fruit was brought to the room, which was such a thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated. Breakfast was plentiful and catered for everyone, with continental options, a full English breakfast, cereals, pastries and more — a really good selection and a great way to start embarkation day, although some items could have been a tad warmer. The only slight disappointment was the Aperol Spritz at the bar, which had far too much ice, watering it down and making it feel less like an authentic Italian cocktail. A special mention to Karl on Reception for the warm welcome and outstanding customer service — friendly, professional and a real credit to the hotel. He helped make the start of our cruise holiday feel extra special. Overall, a fantastic stay and the perfect start to our cruise holiday.
