Was no chef so we could not eat after a long day at work. Apparently happens on a regular basis.

Giving this stay a generous 3 stars.
Firstly the rooms… the room itself wasn’t bad. Pretty much the usual expectations from Premier Inn were met. However, the bathroom door didn’t catch on the latch properly so couldn’t really shut it (not an issue as I was alone), and also the rubber seal on the bottom of the shower screen was also broken (again not a major issue).
Secondly, the bigger issue was the on site restaurant. This place used to be packed and lively, now it feels like it is ready to be closed down. It has been shut to hotel guests only which feels like a massive mistake. I walked in and was the only person in the place. No music, no atmosphere. Just one guy serving walking around with his headphones in. He was a nice guy so I don’t want to take that away from him. Half of the restaurant appeared closed off, half of the beer pumps were out of action. The food itself was fine, no grumbles with the quality, and the breakfast the next morning was also fine but again dining alone.
For me the location was fine as it was closed to where I was working, but given the choice I would stay at Tamworth Central where I stayed last time.
This place certainly wasn’t worth the £140 a night my business paid, and I certainly wouldn’t pay that if it was my own money.

Want to start off by saying the staff were lovely and friendly and the issues were not their fault.
This premier inn is like no other ive ever stayed in, it's a bit odd which will explain below.
Reception somehow looks like it was added as an after thought, sort of like pushed at the end of a corridor by the vending machines.
Rooms were fine. Usual tea and coffee facilities, aircon, shower over bath, TVs are some cheap Chinese make not the usual Samsung or LG you get in premier inns (but fine), and someone gone to the trouble of replacing the light switches with really modern push button switches and usb chargers... didn't seem to match the hotel.
We booked the meal deal incl. breakfast which was served in the Centurion restaurant next door. Very odd place. Looks like it was a big Table Table who just walked away. Service was extremely slow but there was only 2 staff members in the whole place. On a Saturday night about 7pm there were about 8 customers (and we were 4 of them!). We stood at the empty bar for about 5 minutes at the end just to pay the bill before someone appeared.
Menu is *very* limited - much less than the normal meal deal menu, basically fish and chips, pizza or burgers - no steaks, and every dessert had vanilla ice cream, no custard. We all said if staying more than a weekend you'd struggle to find something to eat. Saying that the food was nice.
No problems with the room overnight, had a good sleep.
The following morning we went for breakfast with a full day ahead of us to be greeted with "no hot food as no chef", so only continental. Again the staff were really apologetic about it and advised us to go to reception for a partial refund, but it's really not good enough. A member of our party was able to get porridge but it was very clearly one where the staff just added hot water to it as wasn't very tasty.
So all in all we left rather disappointed with the experience. It was all just very mediocre. Granted they don't have many rooms but just felt a bit odd.
Wouldn't stay again and would opt for Tamworth Central instead with the Beefeater next door.
