  Exterior appearance is horrible; in an industrial area with a bunch of caravans (either derelict or deserving of condemnation) lining the street in front. A number of travellers clearly living here, and we encountered a few of them outside. Not particularly pleasant, and would not feel comfortable for a single woman leaving the hotel on foot walking into town. On arrival, the check-in system was broken, so we were checked in by a very pleasant young lady in the filthy office, where the whiteboard indicated that a couple of rooms were out of order due to 'insects'. Rooms were mediocre, pillows not comfortable and a very basic level of accommodation. Best thing i can say is that the staff were lovely and the location is good for seeing things locally.

  Usual Premier Inn experience, all as expected with excellent staff, Shane the food at the Brewers Fayre and the view from the window of a Screwfix depot and a road full of abandoned old caravans let it down.

  Hotel was fine - standard Premier Inn really. No customer service interaction to speak of but I appreciated the water jug available in reception. Couple of gripes. I know Premier Inn do a bit via their customers’ generosity for charity and there are often raffles or sweets etc in some receptions allowing people to choose to contribute or donate, but this one had a collection bag in prime position on the desk upon entry to the room. Honestly, I don’t want to see that. It’s the last thing on my mind when I arrive in a room, flustered and laden with bags. Don’t make me feel bad about sweeping that to one side along with the menu and remote control. I do plenty for charity but it’s on my terms without duress. Probably an over enthusiastic member of staff trying to help, but still. Also, a lot of caravans parked on the road outside which made me a bit worried for my vehicle as people were drinking and bbq-ing etc. sitting around in the vicinity of the cars.

  First impressions is not the best with loads of dilapidated caravans in front of the hotel. The first room stank. Window doesn’t open so there’s no escape from the damp stank throughout the room. On a positive note the staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant and swapped me to a lovely clean room really quickly. Brewers fayre next door serves a nice pint again with excellent staff.

  Nice clean tidy hotel 5 minutes from town....but......a dark and dismal entrance down an abandoned industrial estate with what looks like an caravans everywhere which are intact being loved by peace community looking very undesirable
