Stayed here on 14th Jun’26. Excellent property. This is our 2nd stay at this property. We were given a lovely room, 28. IHG member since 2003.
Lady (Aimee) at the reception was knowledgeable, courteous and welcoming.
We had requested to book a table for 6 at 19:30 to which she assured. After we paid for the room, we reconfirmed and we were assured of the table. We subsequently invited guests to join us for dinner.
At 19:30, our guests arrived and upon going to the restaurant, a younger lady looked confused and person on restaurant duty, interim manager, came across and said that she could provide us a table if we waited for 15 minutes and “moved” outside the restaurant. This could have been rephrased to say: “Please be seated at the bar and we will come back shortly”. Subsequently, Aimee came and apologised saying there was no tables available as she had been mis informed and that she would give us free drinks and perhaps free breakfast. This didn’t look very good in front of our invited guests. Therefore, we had told Aimee that interim manager had guaranteed us a table after 15 minutes and that we would appreciate the table that was assured.
Interim manager came across and told us that we could use the bar tables. Her attitude was take it or leave it. You can take this?. One could readdress this to say: “Would this be okay?”. We decided to take it. When we went to pay the bill she appeared quite stressed. Her behaviour appeared unwelcoming and I told her that it appeared rude to which she said “Thank you for your feedback and looked away”.
A property like this needs people who are welcoming. Young lady (Erin) who served us had a smile and was proactive. What was meant to be a memorable day with a very good room and food will now be remembered for the inhospitality of a person who was perhaps having a bad day. I am not sure what happened. Will give her the benefit of doubt - perhaps she has personal issues. She wasn’t pleasant, couldn’t listen, cut people off and showed a body language - “I don’t want to be here”. For a property as good as this, good food and all other staff members welcoming this behaviour from an interim manager was odd. There are good programs that help individuals who want to learn, overcome pressure and make hospitality, hospitable.
I was given an email to write, but that bounced, hence the feedback. Excellent property, food and staff, except for one who maybe was having a bad day.

Like most have said, the reception staff were efficient and so lovely. The hotel itself is in much need of some love. My room was depressing. Paint chipped, bath mouldy and I had to come and pay for room service at the bar because they couldn’t bring the card reader. I was also hoping for a relaxing swim, but it’s actually an independent gym. The changing rooms don’t feel the cleanest. There was children’s swimming lessons going on, and about six people fighting over the pool. Not relaxing at all!
I would not stay at this hotel again, even if they paid me. AVOID!
