The hotel is well located for a walk down to the Harbour. The rooms are adequate, although our bathroom was tired and could do with a revamp. The rust around the Shower and Bath tap was not a good look. Our breakfast was fine on the first day but the late opening at 7.30am on the Saturday was shambolic. The Dining Room could not cope with the numbers and we were ushered to a back room that was cold with a musty smell. It was clearly a panic decision by staff as it was not set up for breakfast- no cutlery or cups. There were long queues to get breakfast. A shame that there was little planning. If you want to get a lift up or down be prepared to wait a long time. The stairs are the answer
We stayed when it was a national firework championship
As you can imagine, the hotel was very busy my wife booked an executive room and it was very poor very tired what I really couldn’t understand with the room was about 30 foot long by 12 foot but the bathroom was literally 6 ft.² you had to walk into the bathroom and stand to the side to shut the door
The Cleanning wasn’t up to scratch. We took some drinks to the room from the bar the night before and they were still there the next day.
The club lounge, what’s a joke? They had beer soft drinks and wine and snacks but there was never enough And it was rammed in there
So we didn’t use it!!
The breakfast is okay plenty of choice.
Genuinely, the hotel was very tired and needs updating Especially the rooms. I think £16 a night for the parking was a bit strong as you’re staying in the hotel anyway.
I must admit from the Road view it does look a bit like a prison with all the silly railings they’re probably there for safety reasons
Now for the plus side the beds are very comfortable and big, if you’re gonna stay there, make sure you get a room facing the hoe on the top two floors all in all a good location but not up to Crowne Plaza standards for me.

The hotel is in a great location and the rooms were very clean, with comfortable bedding. The reception staff were also lovely, friendly, and did their best throughout our stay.
Unfortunately, management and logistics let the venue down. My first impression was marred by a senior manager who was abrupt and condescending when guests asked simple questions.
The biggest issue was the lifts. On our first night, two of the lifts broke down and remained out of order for three days, leaving just one working lift across eight floors. On checkout morning, two full coach groups were departing at the same time. Moving dozens of passengers and heavy luggage down eight storeys using a single lift caused a massive bottleneck that delayed our departure. Given that the average age of my group was over 60, carrying bags down multiple flights of stairs wasn't realistic. When we asked reception for alternatives, the only offer was to pay extra for luggage porterage. Having the lifts broken for three days with zero contingency plan in place for handling group departures felt completely unfair to paying guests.
As for the dining, the food was average—acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Overall, while the housekeeping and front desk staff are great, the management attitude and lack of planning for lift breakdowns need serious improvement

We have stayed at the Crown Plaza many times due to its excellent central location. We are, supposedly, valued IHG customers.
Sadly, our latest experience was spoilt by the quality of the room we were given. Charged full price, the sleeping area was fine, but the on-suite facilities were a disgrace. To use the shower you had to climb over a narrow space between the toilet, see attached picture of our room number 503. Not only is access difficult, but dangerous. Just to make things worse, getting any hot water out of the shower took the patience of a saint and, even then was only tepid water.
Not all the rooms are like this, but beware, loyality means nothing in this hotel.
For the price I would expect much better. Stayed here three years ago and it was fantastic so we decided to come back.
Upgraded to the family room. It was a good size. Quite a modern feel until you look closer and notice cracks in the plaster.
Bathroom seemed much smaller than the standard room so mind your elbows and knees getting in and out of the shower!
What we didn't realise is that all of the family rooms are in the centre of the hotel next to the lifts and facing east with a car park view. To be fair it does also overlook the barbican so it's not a terrible view.
We couldn't actually hear the lifts themselves, but sometimes would hear people chatting whilst waiting for the lifts.
The worst part by far is that the room is next to the house keeping room and the hotel staff don't seem to realise how loud the doors slam at 3 am!!!
And it wasn't just hotel staff, as it's very difficult to close these doors quietly, so every guest sounded like they were slamming the doors too! Not conducive for a good night's sleep!
Avoid Saturday nights unless you are one of those partying in the corridors all night!
Breakfast is good and the views from the restaurant are great.
There is parking. The underground parking is very tight. Lots of 5 point turns required and remember to watch for raised curbs on the corner!
