Lovely hotel with pleasant staff and beautiful surroundings. The hotel is well positioned, with a short and scenic walk into Oxford along the riverside path. From our room, we were delighted to see horses, geese, pheasants and deer, which made the stay feel even more special. We visited as part of a half-board package for two nights, and it seemed many other guests were taking advantage of the same offer. The room itself was lovely, with a huge and comfortable bed, a sofa for relaxing, and even a fridge, although it didn’t get very cold. We both commented on how good the shower was. There were two aspects of our stay that were slightly disappointing. Firstly, while the food was beautifully prepared, there was very little variety on the set menu included in the package. There were only five main courses available, two of which required supplements of £10 and £20 respectively. As a vegetarian, my options were limited to one starter and one main course, although the main contained Parmesan, which is not suitable for vegetarians. On one evening, I also had to return my dish as it was garnished with Parmesan despite my request for it to be omitted. As we stayed for two nights, I unfortunately ended up having the same meal both evenings. This felt like an oversight. The second disappointment was the spa. We booked this hotel specifically for a relaxing break and intended to make full use of the spa facilities and treatments. A week before our stay, I called to check treatment availability and was advised that it would be fine to book on arrival. Imagine my disappointment, therefore, when there was no availability during our stay. The receptionist’s response felt rather short dismissive and offered little reassurance. It later transpired that a planned electrical shutdown during our stay affected the spa facilities, and guests could instead use the nearby sister hotel. Had I been informed of this when I called, or indeed when I enquired on arrival, I could have arranged treatments there in advance. As a result, what was intended to be a relaxing spa break became more of a sightseeing trip than we had planned. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and would recommend it. I hope the management can take this feedback constructively, as a few improvements could make the experience even better for future guests.

I recently had the pleasure of receiving a back, neck, scalp, and face massage from Olivia, and it was one of the most relaxing treatments I've experienced. Olivia has a wonderful touch and an intuitive understanding of where tension builds up. She worked through the tightness in my back and neck with just the right pressure, providing immediate relief. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Olivia to anyone in need of a truly restorative massage. I'll definitely be returning for another treatment soon.

Good location away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town, but still only a 25min walk away. Very close to the lakes and canal walks and picnic fields. Public transport available from right outside too. Hotel has good size rooms, but the furniture is a bit dated. Hotel has decent amount of parking. The swimming pool and leisure facilities are small but adequate. The breakfast has a lot of pork and not much vegetarian options. Nothing is labelled ‘vegetarian’ at breakfast and most of the cooked food is sitting next to the pork. Given the way the food is setup there is high chance of cross contamination. This was quite disappointing. In the end, we just had to settle for a bowl of cereal and a croissant, along with some fruit, which made it really expensive for what we were able to eat (£40 for 2 people) Perhaps the breakfast buffet needs to have a vegetarian section and a meat section rather than all of it next to each other, where someone would put pork in their plate and then go to the next tray to pick up fried eggs and touch their pork with the spatula as they are putting the fried eggs in to their plate. We saw this a lot!!

Booked directly via IHG App. Hotel is well position for getting in and out of Oxford. Access is outside the congestion zone so no additional fees for that. Upon arrival hotel is set back away from any noise and ample parking. Check-in was swift and staff were really nice and helpful. Room we had was delux with balcony and overlooked the green space at the rear. Drinks are not expensive from the bar and again the staff are really attentive and can’t help you enough. Great weekend enjoyed here, gym and other facilities on site to enjoy. Top hotel and will most definitely return. Excellent all round.
