Room was clean. Basic provisions, No biscuits or snacks, long life milk etc. breakfast opened later than advertised and staff member couldn't find my room number, meaning a delay for seating so I had to rush breakfast.. Ran out of bacon.. clearly weren't having a happy Monday.

A very bad experience that has left a bad and lasting impression. I was relying on this hotel for my daughter's graduation. Having pre paid for breakfast we were greeted in the morning with "sorry the chef hasn't turned up" so no food. ( You can have a £2 refund per person because you can still have cold cereal and lukewarm coffee) Total let down, please get your staffing numbers sorted. We have stayed here before but won't again.

The Premier Inn itself is absolutely fine, and I want to make that clear from the outset. More importantly, the staff working here and in the attached Beefeater have been excellent — friendly, helpful and doing their best in what appears to be a pretty miserable situation that is entirely outside their control. The problem is the Beefeater operation and, specifically, the corporate decisions being made above the heads of the people actually working here. This hotel is next to Oxford Airport and is relatively isolated. Guests are therefore reasonably entitled to rely on the attached restaurant and bar, particularly when food is advertised as being available until 10pm and the bar until 11pm. In reality, there was no food service this evening and the bar closed at 9pm. From speaking casually with staff, it appears the restaurant is being operated with a skeleton crew while Beefeater prepares to leave the premises, with staff facing redundancy. If that is the commercial decision Beefeater has made, so be it — but continuing to advertise facilities and opening hours that guests cannot actually rely upon is completely unacceptable. At 9pm I found myself sitting in my Premier Inn room eating a delivered KFC because it was effectively the only reasonably priced option available. That is ridiculous for a hotel being sold with an attached restaurant operated by one of the UK's best-known hospitality brands. And I particularly want to emphasise this: do not blame the staff here. Every member of staff I dealt with today was excellent. They are trying to provide good service while apparently being given neither the resources nor the corporate support necessary to deliver what is being advertised to customers. This is a C-suite problem, not a frontline staff problem. Premier Inn and Beefeater are major national brands. Customers book on the reasonable assumption that the facilities being advertised will actually exist when they arrive. If Beefeater is winding down this location, then Whitbread needs to manage that transition properly: update the advertised facilities, provide realistic opening hours, adequately resource the operation, or make alternative provision for hotel guests. Leaving a skeleton crew of good people to face disappointed customers while the advertised service quietly disappears around them is an appalling way to manage an exit. Hotel: fine. Staff: genuinely excellent. Corporate management of the Beefeater closure: an absolute disgrace.
