I was going to check in yesterday here and realised that I booked the other Premier Inn instead (Layerthorpe). The receptionist was so helpful to offer me guidance. After checkout in the morning (14th Aug) I passed by Premier Inn Blossom St North) and asking if I can use the toilet. The lady receptionist wasn’t happy even after I explained that I only just checked out this morning from the other Premier Inn. She’s started to get annoyed and said “We don’t have a public toilet and I can’t make one for you!”
York has been a nice place and people are seem very friendly but there are still exceptions.

Our family room had a noticeable damp smell and cobwebs, which I'm willing to overlook, but others might be bothered by this.
Reception staff were always helpful, especially when I had to get more towels (there were 3 of us).
Service was always good until breakfast on our second from last day. It was a total disaster that would infuriate Gordon Ramsey. Had to wait for a team member whose card worked on the cash register so we could pay for breakfast. The food area is narrow and guests were congregated or queueing for 2~3 missing items that weren't coming out of the kitchen fast enough. My family took what was available, only to find later we'd missed out on eggs after the crowd of hungry guests had dissipated.
Then the hot drinks machine broke down and despite the best efforts of one team member, everyone had to go without coffee that morning. There was another hot drinks machine behind the bar, but my third attempt to get a coffee failed as that too was broken. We opted for Nero Coffee instead.
The 3-member team were juggling several different issues at once from numerous guests without leadership. In all, it was a waste of time and money.
This is my first experience with Premier Inn for a holiday and it was hardly positive despite the more positive experiences I had earlier in the week in 2 other cities. I've had more positive restaurant experiences at TraveLodge and I'm tempted to use them again next year. However, I will acknowledge that the team here was trying their best under difficult circumstances.

We stayed in room 1008 which was a very small corridor consisting of two rooms (1007) on the ground floor a mere stride away from reception!!
The room was how you would expect it to be presented to you.
However!! We had broken nights sleep which became an absolute nightmare due to the fact that it was a very busy & noisy route to other areas of the hotel.
All night long for two nights “bang bang” as the route was used all we could hear was a door banging.
Pedestrian traffic and loud conversation.
I would stay again but not in the same room or on the same corridor!!
The room itself and staff were excellent. Although my complaint did stop the early hours racket 💤🤬
