As Premier Inns go - this one is a massive let-down, avoid. Use Blossom St south instead if you want a Premier Inn - both same location. The block across from reception we stayed in at North had an instant damp stench in the air, the carpet was physically wet under the bed, the bathroom floor is spongy where the ground below is so wet, even the bedside light fittings are rusty from the damp atmosphere! No one around at all to complain to, found staff in Blossom St south when it was too late. Not great for those with any breathing issues or conditions. I imagine that beneath the floor is over-run with mold. All clothes smelled bad on return, having to be washed, and son woken in the night whilst there due to the damp atmosphere getting on his chest.

A really poor experience overall with highlight being the friendly and helpful receptionist there on check-in. Room was musty and evidence of water leakage on the walls so possibly smell of damp. Windowsill not clean, room felt dirty and curtains had come away from the clips. Towels for one whereas we had booked room for two so I had to fetch more. Was told 1 hand towel is allowed per room.
Have stayed in premier inns visiting different unis. This one has put me right off.
Positive - very near city centre and train station.

Stopped here for a couple of nights on a random get-away as it was the cheapest and not too far from what we wanted to do.
The room was fine, a bit dated and a bit beaten up but for somewhere to stay on a whim it did the job.
A couple of issues that come up. The entrance is not on Blossom Street. It's off Queen Street and there is little or no signage on Blossom Street to tell you the reception is around the corner. We had to ask at Blossom Street South for directions. The entrance that's shown on the Premier Inn website is for the key-card doorway and not for checking in.
Also the room we were allocated had two small flights of stairs as you headed down the corridor. You could tell when people were dragging luggage up and down those stairs.
At the time of writing York Council are resurfacing Queen Street as part of the works in front of the train station. My advice is that if the roadworks are on and you're in a room where you can see the carpark/Queen Street ask to be moved to the other side of the hotel. It'll be a lot quieter.

We stayed in room 2104, the main room was overall quite nice and spacious, however the bathroom was my main concern. First thing I noticed when I went in was a hair (not ours) in the bath, additionally they provided no toilet brush. I went for a bath, and a contact lens floated past me (not ours as seen in picture) and I noticed mould growth in the bath room, as seen in pictures. The service in reception was nice no complaints there. In the area to have breakfast the service was pretty poor, when I asked about the vegan options (we are both vegan) we were told that the croissants, pan aux chocolate, muffins etc were all vegan. They were not. The person who told us this read of the V section (meaning vegetarian) not the VE section (vegan) if we were allergic and didn't have prior info on the menu, this may have resulted in an allergic reaction. However, the location is incredible all of the main landmarks (minster, castle museum, gardens, station etc) are all within 30 min walk making it fantastic for walking around and seeing the sights. Overall not a bad hotel just some things that should be improved :)

We stayed in room 2109 standard room on the 27th of May and I paid for the early booking in which was £15 but once we entered our room just about to unpack and the full room had not been cleaned before we arrived there was dust on everything human feaces on the bed sheet the floor had not been cleaned flaky paint on the floor damp in walls with flaky paint also coming of the walls tv and table needed cleaning the glass cups where not clean upon leaving we spoke to a general manager and showed him pictures of our room and he said that this was not there standards could apologise enough and was going to try and get some sort of refund for us but nothing has happened we won't be staying at this one again only positive thing was it was close to york city centre
