Located in motherwell just outside Glasgow but within easy reach by car. Free car park... onsite restaurant and bar with a pool table.
Staff were super friendly.
Breakfast very basic and you have to ask for vegetarian sausages but no signs to tell you they have them.
Rooms were decent and cleaning standard was good. Stairs were not clean and quite filthy when lift was busy but luckily only two floors.
Toby carvery right next door along m&d theme park for the family.
This was our first time in Glasgow and not knowing where to stay, we booked this place. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay! While the property may be older, our room was excellent, clean, and well stocked. But more than anything, the staff were absolutely AMAZING!! Gabby, Peter, Mark, Rachel, Lynsey, Emma, Anndrea, and David all made the stay so much better than it ever could have been. Anytime we needed assistance, they were all more than willing to help by calling cabs, ordering takeaway food, offering directions, you name it, they helped! I can't say I've ever stayed anywhere and had such great conversation with the staff. My husband and I haven't been able to stop raving about them! They also serve up a hearty breakfast included with the stay and they have a nice selection for dinner! I can't recommend this place more!

I had a wonderful stay at **Holiday Inn Express** during my visit to Scotland. The hotel was clean, modern, and offered everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooms were spacious, well maintained, and equipped with comfortable beds, making it easy to unwind after a full day of sightseeing.
One of the highlights was the friendly and professional staff, who were always welcoming, helpful, and happy to assist with any questions or requests. Check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free, making the overall experience smooth from start to finish.
The complimentary breakfast offered a good variety of hot and cold options, including eggs, sausages, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, and juices. It was a great way to start the day before heading out to explore Scotland.
I also appreciated the hotel's accessibility, with lifts, step-free access, and facilities that make it convenient for senior citizens and guests with mobility challenges.
Its convenient location, comfortable accommodation, excellent service, and great value for money make Holiday Inn Express an ideal choice for both business and leisure travellers. I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Scotland and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable place to stay.

Whilst this is representative of HIE hotels in general, it is not one of the best. A bit jaded, in need of upgrading. Everything was fine but we have stayed in lots of HIEs and this was nowhere near the best. Grounds are scruffy, hotel appearance tired. Breakfast was moderate but acceptable. It is unfortunate that there is a Toby Carvery next door which is scruffy, unloved and in desperate need of improvement. OK for an overnight stop.
