On first thought, the hotel looked good on the outside and conveniently located for the work taskings I had in both Cranfield and Bedford. However.... its quickly murmured that the Air Con, within a very stuffy room was not working, with a persistent 'Error Code' warming the room up further. I informed reception (once someone finally appeared in the 5 or 6 deep queue), to which they announced they knew of the error and " could move my room, but cannot guarantee the fault wouldn't reoccur, as it was hotel wide.." I asked if it could be repaired reset... They said ".. unlikely, as its been like this for 3 months or more..." 3 MONTHS!!! Absolute joke, given the daily rate for a room! I simply googled the fault and quickly learned it was lustrd as "...overcurrent protection has been activated. This is a critical code, frequently seen on commercial VRF and City Multi systems, meaning the outdoor unit's inverter board detected the compressor drawing too many amps as soon as it tried to start up.." It goes on... to try and cool off in the shower, I go to simply adjust the height of the shower head, only for the whole height bar to fall off the wall, inclusive of very corroded screws! Followed up with obvious water damage to doors, unkempt flooring, broken radiator TRVs and then to add insult on second day final breakfast.. the coffee machine wasn't working. Lots of unhappy customers, lots of unattentive and carefree staff, suggests this place is massively underfunded, undermaintained and not worthy evennif a 'budget' hotel. I for one will be avoiding the whole chain, especially for work trips, nevermind just this location.

The hotel was ok, if not for the fact that in the morning I found a cockroach roaming around in my room.

Tired rooms, poor quality shower, uncomfortable bed, DO NOT STAY HERE! Had booked multiple nights but checked into another hotel.

Disappointing. My room had air conditioning that only worked intermittently and kept showing an error. There were fans in the room so this is clearly an ongoing problem. There was also a very strong scent device in the room - picture attached. I suspect the scent devices was there to cover up something worse. The restaurant was also disappointing - no beers available on draught and half of the menu was not available. When food did arrive it was average at best, and I saw others eating at the same time send back several plates of food. I’ve stayed at this hotel before and whilst it’s always been tired, it’s always been fine. I won’t be back - next time I’ll go to the Holiday Inn Express in Milton Keynes, a few minutes away and a better experience.

Upon arrival, first impressions were excellent. Check-in was quick, friendly and efficient. We were attending a family wedding and decided to make a weekend of it by booking a suite. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. Rather than list every issue, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. In my opinion, the room was well below the standard I would expect from a Holiday Inn. The issues we encountered included: * A blocked bathroom sink. * The bedroom air conditioning not working (a pedestal fan was provided instead). * Air conditioning filters that appeared to have been neglected for a considerable time. * Heavy black mould around the bedroom window. * Damp and deteriorating paintwork around the radiator. * Extremely poor decorating, with paint covering door furniture and fittings, suggesting very little care or attention to detail. The condition of the air conditioning filters was particularly concerning. If those visible filters were in that state, it does make you question how well the system is being maintained. I reported everything to the duty manager that evening and was assured it would be investigated. One week later, I have received no follow-up whatsoever. When I raised my concerns again at reception the following morning, I asked a simple question: “Would you stay in that room?” The reply was: “No.” That answer said everything. Despite acknowledging the condition of the room, I was still asked to settle the bill in full. Everyone has to make their own judgement, but based on our experience, I would not stay at the Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East again.
