Nice hotel. Incredibly mediochre food. Im on day 28 of a uk brand tour. 90pc of hotels i stay in are premier inn. Id like to award Premier inn Wigan, the honour of worst meal of the past 6 weeks! I only ever order 2 meals from premier inn, so this review comes from a place of insight and integrity, & its incredibly natural to compare consistency and quality. I either order teriyaki salmon or the chicken tikka skewers. Tonight i ordered chicken tikka skewers. I was sat at the table directly outside the kitchen. The meal arrived with the tiniest bowl of chips, which looked the size of a dip bowl you might get coleslaw in, in other foid chains. As the waitress put the plate down, i asked her, if that was a regular size fries?. She replied it was. Then grimaced and said "why do you want some more" i responded, it was tiny. She repeated " Do you want some more" in a very sarcastic tone. I replied yes please. Shame i cant add photos. I took a photo and counted the small thin fries. 11. 3 if which were overcooked, hard scratty bits. She brough another bowl. It had 10 - worse looking than the first. The chicken skewer was barely luke warm and no flavour, not a hint of chicken tikka. How could it possibly be cold,?? i was sat barely 3 steps beyond the kitchen.?? Worst meal of any premier inn, yet. Actually shocking !

I stayed at the Premier Inn in Wigan for one night and, overall, it was an adequate stay. The hotel is located quite close to the railway station, making it a good option if you’re travelling by train. There are also plenty of parking facilities around the hotel if you don’t want to pay the price for parking in the hotel’s own car park. The rooms are starting to look a little dated, but for a one-night stay they had everything needed. I doubt that any of the rooms came with a view but as mine overlooked the bins you do get woken early when they are using or emptying them. There is a bar and restaurant on the ground floor, with reasonably priced food and drinks. Breakfast was included in my stay and there was an excellent variety of options, so there was something to suit most tastes. The main frustration was the check-in process. The room had been booked through a corporate account, and the hotel required the booking reference number. This isn’t always easy to find when someone else has made the booking for you. What’s particularly strange is that, once you’ve provided the reference number, they then ask you to confirm your surname, so it seems odd that they can no longer locate the booking using your surname in the first place. As a result, check-in took longer than expected, but once that was sorted, there were no real problems.

We booked this via the phone so we could let them know our flight wouldn’t get in till 2am. When we arrived the booking was showing us as a no show, it took ages for the girls who were working to get it sorted (not their fault). Thankfully we had a late check out.
