Perfect stop over for London Luton Airport. Right next to the airport where you can see the planes taking off. Official airport parking very close by for your holiday duration.

Arrived yesterday evening with two kids to a room with a really bad smell of mold. We're moved to a different room in which the air con barely worked. The answer we received from the manager was ridiculously absurd. Miss Ashley told us that the Holiday inn hotel does not have an air condition at all. Apparently it's a entirely different system that does not supposed to blow cold wind into the room. Interestingly enough, the air con was working fine in the first room and in the lobby. To make matter worse she recommended us to look for a different hotel. That's the worst service I have ever experienced in a hotel. It was appalling. Also, the flush nob in the toilet was loose, my kid couldn't flush, and the water stream is low, both in toilet and shower.

Our stay started off really well. Check-in was smooth, the hotel was clean, we enjoyed a lovely dinner, and everything seemed set for a comfortable night's sleep. However, the experience changed dramatically the following morning. The evening before, another guest on our floor warned us that contractors often started work very early. We raised this with reception, who assured us that contractors were not meant to be working on Saturdays. They also said they would leave a note asking that, if they did attend, they shouldn't start until after breakfast. Unfortunately, from around 4:00 am I was repeatedly woken by the sound of furniture or equipment being moved. While frustrating, I managed to get back to sleep. Then, at around 6:00 am, contractors began using what sounded like a nail gun directly outside our room while applying and scraping self-levelling compound in the corridor. The noise continued until around 7:00 am, when I went to reception to complain. When I opened our room door, a contractor was working immediately outside it, with equipment and materials partially blocking the doorway. He had to move them so I could leave the room, which immediately raised concerns about guest safety and emergency escape routes. What concerned me even more was that, after I complained at 7:00 am, the nail gun had been left plugged in and energised in the corridor for several hours. It was only after we escalated our concerns to the General Manager that anything appeared to be done about this. As a Site Manager responsible for managing a building, I found this particularly worrying. Safe working practices require tools to be left in a safe condition when unattended, and work areas should be managed to protect members of the public. The hotel also has a responsibility to ensure contractors are working safely and appropriately within an occupied building. Reception explained that the contractors were preparing the floor before guests came down for breakfast so it could dry. I found this explanation difficult to accept. The hotel advertises quiet hours until 9:00 am, and those should have been respected, particularly after we had specifically been assured that no work would be taking place that morning. In addition, noisy refurbishment work involving a nail gun at around 6:00 am in an occupied hotel falls well outside what most guests would reasonably expect. If the flooring needed time to cure before guests returned, I cannot understand why this work wasn't carried out during the day when most guests would have been away from the hotel, rather than directly outside occupied bedrooms before breakfast. Regardless of the reason, the disruption to paying guests was entirely avoidable. Things became even more concerning later that morning. While using the stairs after breakfast, we were confronted by contractors who threatened to make us pay for damage to the floor, despite there being no signs, barriers or notices indicating the stairs were closed or that the flooring was still being worked on. Had there been clear signage or a polite request, we would have happily used an alternative route. Instead, the contractors became increasingly aggressive, including getting into another guest's face after he pointed out there were no warning signs. As someone who manages a building and regularly oversees contractors, I know the importance of ensuring work is planned properly, risks are assessed, work areas are clearly segregated, and the public can move around safely. In my opinion, that standard was not met during our stay. The hotel's responsibility doesn't end with appointing contractors—it should ensure they are working safely and professionally around guests. We raised our concerns several times throughout our stay. It's disappointing that the contractors were allowed to continue working despite the disruption to guests and the unacceptable way they behaved. It's a real shame because the hotel itself had made such a positive first impression with its welcoming staff, clean rooms and good food.
