Decent location a short walk from Waterloo Station, with a handful of solid restaurant and bar options close by. Staff were genuinely friendly rather than fake, and the bar does great cocktails.
The room itself was a mixed bag. AC worked well (great during the recent heatwave) but my room happened to be adjacent to the AC units, which were pretty noisy throughout the night. The hotel was fully booked so a move unfortunately wasn't possible. However, room-to-room sound isolation was good, and I faced the station rather than the street so heard nothing from outside.
A Chromecast or equivalent would be a welcome addition to the TVs. The Marshall amps in the room left me slightly baffled - apparently you can hire a guitar, which explains it, though I'm not sure who the target guest is there. The Bluetooth speakers, on the other hand, were a nice touch.
I loved the products in the bathroom, you even got a choice of two shower gels. I thought Nescafe packets as the coffee offering was a bit poxy for a supposedly luxury hotel though - they could have offered Nespresso pods or a bean-to-cup machine or something.
Legitimately one of my favourite hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff were so friendly and helpful, in an informal but high service standard way, from the moment I arrived, and throughout my stay. The whole hotel has a very cosy vibe, stepping off the bustling Waterloo street into a calm oasis. It’s very boutiquey in design, and they’ve really thought of every small detail guests might need. I am vegan and celiac, and they accommodated my needs really well, with no annoyance you get in lots of hotels. It’s also on a nice pedestrianised street, which has a great food market and lots of cafes and shops. Plus it’s only 5mins walk from Waterloo station

Ruby Lucy is a hidden gem in the heart of London! The entire team is completely committed to delivering an outstanding guest experience. Among such a friendly and efficient staff, we'd especially like to mention Aki & Su, the best baristas we have ever known. In fact, the whole team—led by Mr. Guilherme, a very welcoming manager—deserves high praise. The atmosphere of the hotel, along with its cozy rooms and great location, made our trip truly amazing. The breakfast is fantastic and has everything you need to "recharge your batteries." The only situation you should consider is that in the summer, you have to deal with some light coming into the room from outside even after the sunshine and more early in the morning (the curtains are not able to block the sunlight totally). But it's not enough to disturb your stay. We enjoyed it a lot and we will come back ASAP!
P.S.: besides Guilherme, the manager, the hotel has other brazilians as staff.

I loved my stay at Ruby Lucy back in February - I was working at the nearby Royal Festival Hall and chose this hotel as it was walking distance from the South Bank. Staff at the hotel offered to take my luggage as I was too early for check-in on arrival, it was only around 11am. When I returned later in the evening, I was impressed by the rooms - spacious, modern and full of character. Bar service was great during the evening and I loved all of the unique offerings at breakfast the following day. My room was a little noisy as it was next to a staff service room or cupboard and this was accessed regularly through the night. However, I still slept well and I'd highly recommend staying here. It's great value for money with a lively atmosphere and central location next to Waterloo station.

A disappointing stay by most standards, offset a little by the friendliness of the staff and the location.
Negatives:
Upon check in, my room still had trash from the previous guest, and the toilet had not been cleaned (water was discolored). The floor had also not been vacuumed as there were rocks. The bedding appeared to be cleaned, however.
Furthermore, the curtains are not black out, and even at night, the room is lit due to the light from outside - bring an eye mask! This also meant that if you had a floor 1 room like me, technically people outside the hotel could look into your room through the slits!
The hardware itself is okay. It may be because of the room I booked, but the sink was tiny where I couldn’t even fit a glass or any toiletries on it. Also don’t expect to do work on the desks - the ledge is tiny.
Also, if you have status at IHG, Ruby does not offer free breakfast like many other IHG brands do. This was not communicated at check in, and caused an awkward interaction at breakfast.
Positives:
The staff were friendly and jovial. The location was along a main pedestrian street with many food options, so if you have complimentary breakfast, there are many places to go to instead!
Overall just expected much more when paying 300 pounds per night.
