  This was one of my husband’s must-do activities in London. Me? Not so much. I’ve never been a fan of observation wheels or viewing attractions that involve being enclosed in a pod with random members of the general public. Whether it’s in Vegas, Toronto, Niagara Falls, or anywhere else, the experience is rarely my idea of a good time. For some reason, put people inside a confined space together and some seem to forget their manners. Unfortunately, the London Eye was no exception. I found myself choosing a spot in the pod and holding my ground because I was not about to spend the entire ride negotiating for space. Some of our fellow passengers were, quite frankly, lacking in basic courtesy. And a word of caution: keep an eye on your belongings. My husband left his backpack on the floor while he looked around and I noticed another passenger about to open it. I immediately stepped in and snatched the backpack from his hands. He looked startled and began apologizing, but it was an uncomfortable moment that certainly did not improve my impression of the experience. Now, what about the views? They were fine. The London Eye offers panoramic views of the city from above and there is no denying that seeing London’s landmarks from that perspective is interesting. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes, giving you time to look across the skyline and spot some of the city’s most recognizable sights. However, for me, the view alone was not enough to justify the experience or the cost. In hindsight, I would have much preferred my husband to book a private pod so we could enjoy the views as a family without sharing the space with strangers. Ultimately, I can appreciate why the London Eye appeals to first-time visitors and I’m glad my husband got to experience something he wanted to do. But personally, I wouldn’t do it again. If panoramic views are high on your London itinerary, this may be worth considering. If you’re visiting primarily for the views and are less enthusiastic about sharing an enclosed space with a crowd, I’d spend the money elsewhere. One London attraction crossed off the list. My husband got his London Eye experience and I got confirmation that these observation pods really aren’t for me!

  London Eye to jedna z tych atrakcji, które trudno pominąć podczas wizyty w Londynie. Imponujące, 135-metrowe koło nad Tamizą pozwala spojrzeć na brytyjską stolicę z zupełnie innej perspektywy. Podczas przejażdżki można podziwiać panoramę miasta, wypatrywać jego najsłynniejszych zabytków i obserwować, jak Tamiza przecina londyński krajobraz. Sama podróż odbywa się w przeszklonej kapsule, która powoli unosi się nad miastem. Pełny obrót trwa około 30 minut, więc jest czas, by nacieszyć się widokami i zrobić sporo zdjęć. Przy dobrej pogodzie panorama potrafi zachwycić, a możliwość oglądania Londynu z takiej wysokości jest ciekawym uzupełnieniem spacerów po mieście. London Eye to jednak nie tylko punkt widokowy, ale również imponujący przykład nowoczesnej inżynierii i jeden z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych symboli brytyjskiej stolicy. Warto pamiętać, że to bardzo popularna atrakcja, dlatego najlepiej kupić bilety online z wyprzedzeniem i zarezerwować dogodną godzinę. Trzeba też liczyć się z tym, że przy dużym zainteresowaniu mogą pojawić się kolejki. Ceny biletów nie należą do najniższych, więc warto wcześniej sprawdzić dostępne warianty. Czy warto? Jeśli lubicie podziwiać miasta z góry i zobaczyć Londyn z innej perspektywy niż podczas spacerów jego ulicami, London Eye jest atrakcją wartą rozważenia. To około pół godziny z widokami, które pozwalają na chwilę zatrzymać się nad miastem i spojrzeć na jego rozmach z zupełnie innej strony.

  As one of the popular stops on trips to the UK, it offers a pleasant view of the London skyline during its roughly 30-minute rotation. Because it is located right across from Big Ben, the River Thames, and the Westminster area, it provides the closest and clearest vantage point to view them. The capsules are quite spacious.I was told they hold about 25 peopl as well as air-conditioned and smooth. Since the rotation is very slow, it offers a calm viewing experience without causing any discomfort, even for people like me who are afraid of heights. Particularly when you ride during the golden hour just before sunset, watching the city lights turn on and their reflections on the river is quite enjoyable. Standard ticket prices range around GBP 30–GBP 45 per person. In my opinion, this is expensive compared to other activities in London. There tends to be a waiting time for tickets or security checks on weekends. I recommend keeping an eye on the weather forecast. On foggy and rainy days, the view becomes blurry. If you purchase your tickets online in advance instead of at the door, it both saves you money and reduces waiting times. You can lower the costs further by choosing a combined package ticket with other Merlin Group attractions, such as Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE Aquarium, or a River Thames Cruise. If you just want to view the city from above and do not want to pay high ticket prices, there are also free observation decks in London, such as Sky Garden or Horizon 22.
