I’m North American—I’m larger than life and expect everything else to be, too. The Holiday Inn Regent’s Park rooms? Fine. Serviceable. Well-located. Whatever.
The bar and the service I received from Samantha?! *chef’s kiss* EVERYTHING! She was kind, considerate, funny, personable, and attentive. (And lest anyone think I’m an effervescent well-lubricated enthusiast, we’re talking one glass of wine, folks!) Honestly, Samantha bantered with each person in my party, asked curious but not intrusive questions, and was the kind of person I could have happily chatted and laughed with all night.

This was our second stay at this hotel, having previously visited two years ago.
We really like it here. The location is excellent, with quick access to the city centre, and the transport links at Paddington station make getting to places further afield effortless.
During dinner at the hotel, we were looked after brilliantly by Samantha and had a wonderful evening. The food, particularly the brownie for dessert, was spot on.
A couple of small points to note: the rooms, especially the bathrooms, could do with a bit of a refresh, and the breakfast buffet would benefit from a few more options.
Overall, a lovely stay, and we would certainly consider returning again in the future.

The location of the hotel was perfect since it was right next to the event we were attending and there was private parking at the hotel and 6 minutes away. We also checked in quite late and the hotel staff was accommodating. Additionally later at night we needed assistance and one of the staff members Shanker was able to help us and he was extremely friendly. Definitely enjoyed our short stay.
Additionally we loved the bathroom amenities. The body wash and lotions felt and smelled amazing.

I had to think about this review for quite a while. I work in commercial real estate, and unfortunately I have to say this is not a 4-star property.
The hotel feels quite worn down and is in need of significant reinvestment. The rooms need to be modernized. The carpet in the first room I was assigned was in extremely poor condition—so much so that I requested a room change. Since I was staying for four nights, I knew I couldn't remain in that room. In the second room, several electrical outlets didn't work, so I ended up moving rooms a total of three times.
As many other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms are small. Beyond that, they also feel outdated, with visible cracks, poor sealing around fixtures and doors, and other signs of deferred maintenance.
I'm giving the hotel 3 stars because, despite the issues, the bed was surprisingly comfortable and I slept well every night. The staff was also friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
Unfortunately, my overall experience was negative.
To be fair, the room was perfectly fine and I had no issues with the accommodation itself. The staff we met were also very friendly, polite and helpful, and I would genuinely give them 10/10 for their attitude.
However, the problems began on our first evening. I ordered two beers and a bag of peanuts at the first-floor bar. When I was leaving, the member of staff closed the bill but did not take payment.
On the second evening, we ordered two meals. I explained that I also needed to pay for the drinks and peanuts from the previous evening. I was then charged a total of £100, including a tip for the staff, and I have proof of this card transaction.
At the end of our stay, we completed check-out and were told that there was nothing outstanding on our account. However, after leaving the hotel, I received an email claiming that I still had an unpaid balance.
I contacted the hotel by both email and telephone and provided evidence of the £100 payment. Despite this, I was repeatedly asked to explain exactly where the transaction took place, what we ordered and other details that, in my opinion, should already be available within the hotel’s own records.
As a customer, I followed the instructions given to me, paid the amount requested and even included a tip. I do not believe it should be my responsibility to investigate the hotel’s internal communication or payment systems.
There was also another concerning part of our stay. On the second evening, we ordered two tomato soups followed by chicken schnitzel with potatoes. The chicken seemed slightly unusual, but we continued eating because we trusted the standards of the hotel.
Around an hour later, both my wife and I began feeling unwell, with symptoms consistent with a mild case of food poisoning. I cannot confirm with certainty that the food was the cause, but I believe it is important to mention our experience so that other guests can be cautious.
I do not normally leave negative reviews, and this is actually the first time I have felt strongly enough to do so. However, the way the payment issue has been handled has left me feeling as though I am being charged twice for something I have already paid for.
My mistake was not requesting an itemised receipt for every purchase. As this was presented as a reputable hotel, I did not think that would be necessary at the time.
The friendly staff and acceptable room were the only positive aspects of the stay. The lack of communication, the unresolved payment issue and our experience after eating at the restaurant have left us extremely disappointed.
