Despite the web site saying that the hotel is air-conditioned, the system is not operational and is in the process of being replaced. We didn't find out about that until we got to our suffocatingly hot room. The receptionist was pleasant and apologetic, but couldn't offer any solution except a fan, not suitable in a week where temperatures are due to reach 38⁰C (100⁰F). We checked out and went to the Premier Inn instead, a more basic hotel but with working aircon. Crowne Plaza should be honest about this on their website.

Crowne Plaza Liverpool Airport, good parking and conveniently close to the airport. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was broken and the room was very hot, which made it a little uncomfortable, especially during the night. However, the lady on the front desk was very helpful and understanding, and she kindly provided us with a fan as soon as we mentioned the issue. Her excellent customer service helped improve our stay despite the problem with the room temperature.

The hotel is in a great location. It was the old airport terminal and is a very good art deco style building. The check in was quick but when we got to the room the power sockets didn't work and we had to be moved. Forty five minutes later we had moved rooms. We went down to dinner but this was a disaster as apparently the supplier had let the hotel down and there were virtually no food options. At 9pm we went over the road to the retail park and had dinner in Wagamama. The air conditioning had broken down a few days before we arrived and after a 3 day stay it still wasn't fixed. There were fans in the room but these were not great. The hotel interior is excellent and the premium king room was spacious. A few improvements would really help to make this hotel so much better.

This hotel has seen better days and is in urgent need of a refit. It's not the standard you'd expect of a Crowne Plaza. Firstly the air con is broken across the hotel with no ETA, so you're going to either bake or freeze depending on the weather. The hairdryer was broken. Half the lights in the room are broken. The carpet's knackered and walking on it kicks up clouds of dust. The shower goes cold if your neighbour uses theirs. The walls are paper thin. I'd have loved to brought any of this to the attention of management, except there's never anyone on reception. Avoid.

The only positive thing about this hotel is its location and accessibility to the nearby retail park. Beyond that, our experience was incredibly disappointing. We booked a Queen Bed Premium Room for two adults and a child. We arrived around 3:00 PM (an hour after the 2:00 PM check-in time), but check-in was a mess. Only one person was working the desk. After giving us our key cards, we were called back from the lifts and told our booked room was still occupied, and no other rooms in that class were available. They actually offered us a "deal" to downgrade to a standard room for a measly £35 refund—even though standard rooms were currently listed online for that exact lower price anyway! The manager was equally clueless. We eventually had to suggest a compromise ourselves: we would wait in a standard room for a couple of hours until our actual room was ready. We didn't get into the correct room until 7:00 PM—losing four hours of our stay to a downgrade. To make matters worse, we were told at check-in that the air conditioning was broken. The rooms have poor ventilation, and on a warm afternoon, it was suffocating. They provided one tiny, useless table fan. When we finally moved to our actual room at 7:00 PM, there was no fan at all. Despite calling immediately, it took multiple follow-ups and four hours of waiting for a fan to arrive (at 11:00 PM). Breakfast the next morning was another letdown—we paid £33 for two adults, and it was a complete waste. If you don't eat red meat, your options are basically non-existent; they didn't even have a decent selection of fruit, leaving just toast. You are much better off eating across the road. The rooms and lobby are worn out and poorly maintained. The reception desk is frequently left empty, leading to long waits. To top it off, we received no formal apologies or refunds for the massive inconvenience. We will never return.
