This is a remote former 1960/70s motel
The welcome was lovely and as it was my birthday they let me in my room 30 mins early
Unfortunately the sofa bed was not made up as requested and there was no spare bedding to do so.
There are no lifts in this hotel, but a kind cleaner carried my bag to the room for me.
There is no phone in the room to call reception and I had to call 4 times before they picked up, to request they made the bed up
After he went I saw the skirting behind the bed was thick with dust and there was a 2p on the floor. Then the bathroom door had something red splatted on it (probably make up). I rang the reception a few times but no one picked up. I went out and tried again that evening a few times, but still no reply.
The rooms are small but adequate. There is no fridge but a big TV and a tea tray.
I did not dine so cant comment but £17 per person is a bit steap when they dont do non pork meat sausages (chicken/lamb/beef) I am allergic to pork, gluten and coconut, so it was very limited so no point but reception did try to upsell on checkin at a reduced rate of £14
The pool is a HUGE let down it is tiny and just 1 meter deep. You can do about 5 breastrokes then you have to turn around. The jacuzzi had rope around it and was out of order, there is a tiny sauna and steam room.
Its not a place I would rush back to, because it is so difficult getting in touch with reception and the walk back to reception is so long you cant sort out any issues should they arise. You need to be able to contact them, and it is something the hotel should urgently address.
Disinterested receptionist at check out.
There is a car park and bus stops near but you have to walk a bit to get to one. No bus or train information at reception and no guide in the room

Inhuman level of customer service and questionable T&Cs on booking.
We booked a room for one of my friends for my wedding recently. The room was paid in full in advance. Upon reading the facing T&Cs for that booking on IHG's website where the booking was made: Only bookings that involved the payment of a deposit are described as non-refundable.
As we paid in full this does not accurately describe our situation so it was assumed this was a refundable booking.
My friend was tragically hospitalised 6 days before the booking meaning he couldn't attend the wedding. I reached out directly to the hotel who responded robotically and in the most inhumane, corporate manner to this news that they would not be doing anything to help RE a refund.
The level of care of the staff that responded to my query was frankly disgusting considering the situation.
As a local business owner who has recommended this hotel to clients, friends and family regularly in the past, I will now actively be encouraging people to avoid this place. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you are happy potentially being treated this way..

Nice clean rooms with coffee making facilities. There is plenty of space for your suitcase and enough wardrobe space if you are staying for a couple of days, but not enough for a week. Check in was straight forward and the staff friendly. The location is good for accessing public transport

Don’t believe the glossy pictures - this hotel is shabby & poorly cleaned. Everything is worn, chipped, rusty, grubby or all four. Obviously cheaping out on basic maintenance. Quiet location, but otherwise forgettable.
