  A lovely hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Staff are really nice. Location is great! A ten minute walk from the station. Food is great! Highly recommend!

  One star, and it has nothing to do with the room. It is about being charged £95 for parking at a hotel I had already paid in full to stay in, and then being told by that hotel that they could not find my booking and would not help me. We stayed three nights in May. We gave our car registration to reception at check-in, once, which is what they ask you to do. Weeks later a parking charge arrived from the car park operator, dated the morning we checked out (not the first 3 days). A relative of ours was staying at the same hotel and checked out at midday on the same Monday. He registered his car once at the same desk, and the receptionist told him he could park until Monday afternoon. He received no charge at all. When I asked the hotel to sort it out, I was told they could not locate or verify my booking on their systems, could not confirm the registration against the reservation, and would not contact the parking operator on my behalf (incompetent and lazy). I had given them the booking reference, the guest name and the dates. They told me they could take it no further. Three months on it is still unresolved and now sits with Whitbread's executive team. The room was perfectly acceptable. That is not the point. If a hotel cannot find a booking you are holding a confirmation for, and leaves you to fight a parking company on your own over it, the room does not matter. If you stay here, keep your booking confirmation and get your registration confirmed in writing at the desk. Updated 17 Aug 2026: Based on Premier Inn's response, we have tried contacting on various sources, resolver.co.uk, guest-relations (web form and email), etc but not a single response from anyone. So, stop sending automated response instead reply to the actual issue.

  My husband, who is in a wheelchair, and 1 stayed here for 3 nights in an accessible room. We were attending an event at the Standedge Tunnel visitor centre. The staff went out of their way to help us, were friendly and attentive. We were recommended to visit the Piece Hall by one of the staff, we were so glad we went. Yes, the bar/restaurant is looking a bit tired and its a shame it is no longer open to the general public as it is very quiet. The location is great, a nice terrace to sit and look at the canal, a nice walk (even with a wheelchair) along the canal too. The staff made everything so easy for us which isn't always the case sadly so, thank you very much!

  Hotel is well laid out over 2 buildings,we had a very quiet night . There's a pub next to it but only opens for hotel guests at approx 5pm for dinner, also for breakfast but we didn't have that so not sure of times. Free car park,but make sure you enter you car reg at reception or you will get a fine The staff were lovely in both hotel and restaurant. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel . It's also right next to canal which has some lovely canal boats.
