  After staying here many times in the past my wife and I booked for a 3 night stay this week, checked out after 2. Since the changeover this hotel is in rapid decline. You are not allowed to sit in the bar/ lounge area outside of service times, you either have to sit in your room or walk the streets, a bit like a boarding house really. The most worrying part of our stay was that when you could access the bar /restaurant area the only emergency exit was kept locked and bolted, meaning that in the event of an emergency the only exit was through a single door that led to reception. Far from safe or satisfactory. We will not be staying here again.

  Rooms were clean but there was an awful smell in the bathroom, must have been a drain problem. Smelt like cabbage.

  Premier have taken over Brewers Fayre and providing food. Unfortunately the experience was spoilt by this. The room was acceptable, tired, walls marked, mark on the bedding and dusty headboard. The restaurant is a different level of dirty. Food on the floor clearly from the night before as chips are not served for breakfast. And then there was the breakfast. Charged full price but short on items due to no delivery. You can have toast but no butter, only a couple of margarine so then your choice is dry or apricot marmalade. But thats it. Bowls for cereal dirty but as it is poor lighting in this area I didn't notice until I got back to the table, eggs made to order but swimming in grease, coffee machine broken so it was packet coffee or nothing. Not value for money. Feels very much like it is all about profit. Would I eat here again. Absolutely not. The lad who served was friendly but clearly head office not interested and the manager is not focussed on a clean restaurant and great customer service.

  We enjoyed our stay. Cheryl was lovely on reception, she helped me check in and supported us into the hotel as there was no disabled spaces left, she helped us in with our bags and found us a room close to reception. She is a credit to the hotel thank you

  Our stay was a short stay, but none the less was a very comfortable and lovely stay at Premier inn Central. On walking in to the hotel we was greeted by staff who were prompt, polite and helpful. Once in our room , which was very spacious and clean. I did a thorough check. The kettle was also clean, which is an item, that often gets overlooked. There was only a little dust on and in the fan. The chair had some staining and the carpet had minor small stains near the mirror. But other than that the room was spotless. The beds were very very comfortable and we slept very well. The room was very warm even with the fan running and the window, open. But it was not unbearable. The window had a security bar on it so could only be opened slightly. Being on the ground floor, I found the security of the bar, essential and reassuring. Towels were provided and the shower held good pressure and temperature. We did not try the bath but it was an option that was available in our room. Breakfast was a pleasant experience. The full English was provided and was cooked well. The continental breakfast was lovely also with alot of choice on offer. My only gripe about the breakfast was the bacon was unsmoked and greasy. More of a personal preference really.The staff agon were helpful and polite and the eating area was clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic and parking was available although we did not use this facility. This venue is a credit to southport and we would stay here again.
